Never seen Missing in Action. Not sure what is The Passion of Ayn Rand is exactly, and right now I'm watching wrestling so I can't really answer anything really.

After being sent to Comrades Gulag, I'm sort of behind on Goblin politics. From my understanding, there are none, yet.

seeing a pattern in the forums today.

Hmm, seemed people want conservatism to become liberalism "lite".

Anyways, I'm GMing my first game soon, very excited. Got a Comic-con that is in the area soon at Hagerstown, MD. Maybe there can be Pathfinder or other Dog stuff there.

Good luck! It can be hard but it's a blast to GM, especially if you have a good group.

I'd just be happy with "conservatism" becoming a political movement that doesn't require fear, Othering, and bigotry to sell its ideas.

Unfortunately a lot of people were busy or sick that day and only one showed up. However, the usual GM was teaching five people how to play using some pre-gens and a newbie adventure. They then went on to create their own characters, so not a complete loss.

Crossposted in AMA threads: it's a Paizopaloozaganza!

Slaad Goblin. You are a goblin. Read questions anyway.

Super-serious series of questions*:

* Nnnnnnope.

If you could have 1d4 ⇒ 1 different super-powers, what would they be and why?
(Assume corollary powers required to make a given power work are part of it; i.e. Since you'd need super tensile strength/durability to, you know, not-die when you made use of your super-strength power, you get them both when you say "super strength" as a singular option.)
Why?

If, instead, you could be a gestalt of 1d2 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 super heroes, who would you gestalt to be yourself? Why? Which comic universe would you run around in? Would you prefer to be in that one, or this one?

On the other hand: BAM! You just gained 3d6 + 2 ⇒ (4, 2, 4) + 2 = 12 levels in a Pathfinder class (or classes)! Which class(es) do you pick, and why? Incidentally, if you could spontaneously switch races, would you? And if so, to which?

Similarly, you won the super-lottery, and gained mythic tiers! 3d3 + 1 ⇒ (2, 1, 2) + 1 = 6 of 'em! (And you gain class levels to match; please feel free to change your previous answer if this does so for some reason.) What path do you take? (Alternate option: substitute a single tier for a simple mythic template.)

Yet another query: you monster. Specifically, you CR: 1d30 ⇒ 25 (or less) monster! Which are you?! ... and would this have been your first choice? If not, which would be?

But the wheels of fate-time have spun again, and your everything has been transposed into that of someone else! You've just become a prepublished NPC from an official source! Which prepublished NPC is it?

What campaign setting do you run around in? Why?

As a final thing: blend any and/or all of the above questions into a single ginormous question: an optional blend of a prepublished NPC, monster, and some superheroes all walk into a bar... and out comes you, as a gestalt of those guys, the race you choose, some extra superpowers, and have extra class levels and mythic tiers on top! What are you?! (Other than "awesome" - naturally.)

Equipment is a non-issue (like adjunct super-powers; what you need to do <X> is assumed). Also note that any significant others can be brought with you.

"Official" and "Pre-published" are loose terms, but general expect something that has a solid publishing company and identifiable map/world/conceits behind it (like WotC for Forgotten Realms, Eberron, Dark Sun, Greyhawk, etc; or Green Ronin for Blue Rose, but not "True20"; or Paizo for Golarion, or the Maelstrom, or the upcoming Starfinder; but not "the Bestiaries" or "the Planes" or things like that - basically things that people can find and nerd out about with you). Similarly, if it has a solid AP out for it, that, too, is acceptable (like Legendary Planet; or any of Paizo's APs). It should probably be a d20 variant, but it can be whatever you like of those many variants (True20, Blue Rose, Paizo, 3.5, 3rd; etc.). That said, if a Homebrew or otherwise "weak" entry just needs to be there due to compelling reasons... okay. Similarly other systems. Let us know why! Computer and video game translations of such (Neverwinter Nights and/or expansions/sequels; PFO; etc) are acceptable as interpretations as well.

Similarly, for comics, it needs to be superheroes that people can reasonsonably be expected to come across - "that one I made up with my cousin as a kid" is an awesome answer, and worth noting and why, but prrrrooooobabaly isn't the best choice, unless it's just so powerful that you've GOT to. In which case: sure, but bring us along for the ride! Related, the super need not come from one of the "big two" in comics, so long as the people and world is both recognizes me and accessible - choosing The Incredibles world is valid (and awesome), as is Spawn (blech); you're not just limited to Marvel or DC. Similarly "standard" powers need not apply - so long as it is clearly communicable, it's fine (even if all the field specifics aren't clear, that's okay - knowing you're powered by our yellow star is fine; you don't need to know this, but it's acceptable if you do).

Finally, presume you have the basics necessary for a happy life. Your spouse, best friend, and so on, can all be considered to "come with you" (should they choose to do so) wherever it is that you go.

Oh, and one more thing: if you lived through a Legend of Zelda (as one of the Links); which would it be, and why?

Thanks! Enjoy!

1.)The Super-Speed of the Flash. I've always wanted to be able to go super fast and the cool stuff you could do with it and screw with people would be awesome.

2.)The Flash and the Arrow. Both have a TV show that I like and abilities I'm real cool with. I chose the Flash from above, but I like the Arrow because he is basically Batman, only without that annoying don't kill rule. For universe, it is hard. I'd say DC, but it depends what alternate universe. Heck, same goes for Marvel in that regard.

3.)Possibly all Sorcerer levels with the Drcaonic bloodline, with maybe a dip into Cleric. I'm a big fan of Sorcerers for ease and the fun I can do with them. Clerics are flavorful with their dieties and connection and their spell list is my favorite. Funny enough, I am a big Erastile and Abadar fan, with a newfound love of Pharasma and joking aside Calistria. For race, a Half-Orc. I just like them.

4.)Sorry, I never used Mythic so I can't answer. :(

5.)My Bestiary knowledge is limited. Maybe a Ghoul with some levels in a class to annoy people. Defualt a goblin with Wizard levels.

6.)Amieko, because everyone likes her.

7.)Golarion. Only one I've spent the most time in.

8.)......................

Hmm, working on some Civil war miniatures. Plan to paint them to look like the CSA Maryland division.then I will get another set of miniatures and make them the Maryland division on the Union side.

Relaxing this thread be now.

For all this interested, don't buy a HP Notebook 14. While it advertises as a nice cheap machine, it is rather crap. With only 2GBs of RAM and about 28GBs storage (around 19 of that usable), it is rather backwards for a computer these days. Add in the mix of Windows 10, the only redeeming feature, and what you get is pretty much a mess.

Side note, does have good resolution for when you can get a YouTube video to finally play without destroying the damn thing.

Wait, Win10 is the redeeming feature?! Can you return it?

Yea. I got it from HH Greg. Should have said something to my sister but alas, she wanted it.

Still looking for one? If so, what's your budget?

Cheap

Is $349 + $2.99 s&h too high? There's an Acer with Intel i3 cpu and a Lenovo with AMD A6 cpu that are fairly close feature wise. The Lenovo has a bigger hard drive, but the Intel will give you a little better battery life. I personally like both companies, but others have had problems with them, so you might ask your friends; regardless of brand, nearly all notebooks use the same OEM components (chipsets, LCD panels, hard drives, DVD-RW drives, RAM) from a handful of manufacturers. Either way, both should handle everyday productivity, Internet use, and watching movies. Neither will be any good at mid-range to high-end gaming.

You may find a few notebooks on sale locally too during any remaining back-to-school sales. I wouldn't settle on anything less than:

  • An Intel i3 processor -or- an AMD A4 or A6 processor. Older Intel Celerons are too slow for very little in savings.
  • At least a 500GB hard drive or better
  • A DVD-RW drive. Mostly for watching movies or the occasional backup of files.
  • You'll be stuck with a 1366x768 LCD unless you spend at least $100+ more. If you can afford better, 1600x900 or 1920x1080, you'll have a lot more screen room and usually something easier on your eyes. Higher resolution LCD panels usually have better viewing angles, better color contrast/true blacks, and are more likely to have a better graphics card (GPU)
  • WiFi and USB v2 is standard nowadays.
(Sorry if this is stuff you already know.)

If you need something dirtcheap and ASAP, there's a factory refurbished HP with an i3 CPU that just went on sale for $119.99. You'll want to drop in more RAM before too long (at least up to 4GB; 8GB would be better) and some form of external USB storage (like a basic 500GB-1TB USB hard drive for under $75-$80) if you know you would fill up the onboard 160GB hard drive. It does have a built-in DVDRW drive for burning though.

---

If you can wait a bit, I'd sign up for email alerts and sales at places like Newegg, Amazon, Dell, etc. New models will be coming out in time for the year-end holiday sales, and that means all the retailers need to sell out their existing inventories.

Time passes by, bored. Hmmmmmm.

Often!

Been a few days. Cities: Skylines is fun. Planet Coaster as well.

*Log Date 9/24/2016*

Well yesterday was my birthday. went to the fair in town and rode a few rides. I question the sanity of the one whom designed them. Birthday cake was good. Not really a cake though, more like a weird peach dessert, still tasty.

Happy belated birthday!

Happy Birthday CA!

I've been getting into cities skylines lately, but I have been having trouble. I played a lot of simcity 4 a few years ago, and I think it gave me some bad habits. I'm hoping that once I get a decent sized city going, I'll get past the awkward developing/redeveloping stages, and really figure out rail and stuff.

Happy (belated) Birthday CA!

Heya ConA,

Do you consume alcoholic libations? If so, any recommendations for Monday's PotUS debate?

I've said it before, I don't drink. If you want to drink during it be my guest, I don't care what you do during it, I can't top you.

No, "Comrade" is like "Mr." or "Citizen". I want to say it's a title, but I'm pretty exhausted. Not sure if that's the right word.

I thought Comrade Bain was the name of guy who played the dad on Different Strokes?

Edit: {googles} Oops, that's a weird piece of erroneous trivia I've been carrying around for decades. Apologies.

Edit 2: On the other tentacle, "Comrade Bain" is a viable alias, but I'm pretty sure I can't pull off a communist + Black Panther (movement, not the Marvel superhero) + Bane (of Batman) mashup.
