Natural Weapon Improvements and PFS Specific Rules Thread?

Pathfinder Society

Okay, not in the titles order, but first question: Is there a PFS Rules thread? Like, questions, specifically for Rules regarding PFS.

Second, is there a Permanency spell rule for natural attacks? Example: I have 2 claw attacks and a bite attack, but I don't have spells to enhance these attacks myself. Can I purchase a Permanent Magic Fang or Greater Magic Fang to improve these "weapons"?

Also, has the Boon for Skinwalkers been released? Or is my Ulfen Characters only ever able to be Human?

4/5 ****

The guide to Organized play has all the PFS specific rules regarding permanency in detail.

Thanks Mr. Pirate -goes to redownload the pdf-

When it interacts with PFS's rules it goes here.

When its just a rules question it goes in the rules forum.

This may change when the campaign clarification document comes out.

Permanency is banned in pfs.

For claws and bites you should get an amulet of mighty fists, which works on claws and bites despite the name.

I think there was a charity auction boon for them? In any case, pretty unlikely to get it as teh new guy.

Charity Auction... so basically "unless you pay a pretty penny". Sounds like a "no chance" to me, lol.

Thanks for the information. Little sad that there is no way to make my natural weapons burn through DR/s without spells. I guess that just means druid only, good thing there is no chance for a Skinwalker. xD

Skinwalker was last year's Tier 1 GenCon boon, IIRC? You're still not going to get one, but somewhat less rare.

Well, at least I still have my burly man with a big curly mustache and giant tower shield. If only there was a Monk archetype that used shields so I didn't have to go the sub-par fighter archetype, or not loss out on every single monk bonus. lol xD

Skinwalker was among the races in last year's GM boon, so there are some still floating around that may be available for trade. You'd likely need to offer up a juicy boon or boons in return though.

An amulet of mighty fists will overcome DR as the enhancement bonuses increase, much like a normal magic weapon will. +1 overcomes DR/magic, +3 overcomes silver and cold iron, +4 overcomes adamantine, and +5 overcomes alignment-based DR.

There's a brawler archetype that specializes in attacking with shields, if that's what you're after.

@Zefig - Sadly, I have nothing to trade and no money to buy or travel, so I'm SOL on all fronts. I buy PDFs only because online money through advertisements and surveys....

Morso trying to find a way to use both Vangard and Mobile Tower Shield style feats, or the other "Guard" style feat. Vangard is an awesome style feat tree. I'm most likely going to go Monk first and/or second level for the free 2 "style" feats, then jump into fighter for 2 levels for the second two free feats, or Cavalier instead.

Human (I'm debating on Dual Talent or the Bonus Feat...).
- Monk 2 [Master of Many Styles/Monk of the Mountain]
- Fighter 3 [Phalanx Soldier]
- Golden Legionnaire 6

Probably going to go
Fighter > Monk > Fighter > Monk > Fighter > Golden 6 levels.

And then I retire. This would give me a grand total of 11 Feats to play with, 15 Feats if the "Retraining" rules lean towards my favor. Easily enough to make use of both Vangard and Tower Shield/Archon style feats.

The build focuses primarily on Polearm Trips and Aid Another combat tricks with Combat Reflexes and the like. Monk 2 gives me the ability to use Vanguard and Tower Shields together, or Archon Style if the Tower Shield Style becomes to iffy to use and two bonus feats. 3 levels in Fighter give me Polearm's in 1 and and 2 bonus feats. Golden Legionnaire gives me a whole bunch of aid another and defender goodies.

Hey, got a question. If level 4 I take Bodyguard, and I later get Bodyguard from a free feat from Golden Legionnaire, do I get to retrain my level 4 feat? Or is it a "Oops, oh well, you're SOL"?

TLDR: Build for my Not-Leona/Not-Braum Polearm defender, and asking what happens if I take Bodyguard at level 4, and get Bodyguard as a "Bonus Feat" at level 9 again.

You can actually get away without Phalanx Soldier now. There's a feat in Armor Master's Handbook that'll let you get away with pole and board, although you take an attack penalty equal to your shield's ACP, so...

This is a multifaceted question.

If you have questions regarding the specifics of playing or GMing Core, there is a Core Campaign Forum.

If you have questions regarding a specific scenario you want to GM, there is a GM Discussion Forum.

If you're interested in Pathfinder Society online, there's a Forum for that.

If you seek mechanical advice for your character (stats, feats, spells, archetypes, things written down on paper), head on over to the Advice Forum (and put "[PFS]" somewhere in your title).

If you have rules questions about the Pathfinder RPG (feats, spells, classes, anything available outside of PFS), head on over to the Rules Questions Forum (it may also help to put "[PFS]" in your title there, too).

If you have questions about the Pathfinder Society Organized Play Campaign (who to contact, what's legal, where to play, why a certain decision was made, how to join, when something happens/happened, Chronicle questions, etiquette concerns, or other nuances about Organized Play), aka something "PFS-specific", then this is the right place to ask.

Humans love to sort things. You'll get used to it.

@Alex - I'm just showing off my character plans for PFS. not so much asking advice, morso asking for rules clarification, specifically for my Level 4 and Level 9 "Bodyguard Rules"

@Nefreet - So, what happens if I take Bodyguard at level 3/4 and gain a Bonus Feat "Bodyguard" at level 9?

That would be an excellent question for the Rules Forum, but I'll save you the time.

You would have a redundant feat. Luckily, you can retrain feats in PFS using the regular rules presented in Ultimate Campaign, plus an additional cost of 1pp/day spent Retraining.

^ I don't think the base rules include anything about PP's being spent used on Retraining, which is why I asked. Thanks Nefreet. ^-^

The closest you're going to get is the Campaign Clarifications Document (and the attached thread where people ask questions for it). Unfortunately it hasn't been updated in awhile.

The pp costs are in the guide to organized play document.

An amulet of mighty fists counts as the + of the weapon. Magic fang does not except for magic. So if you have +3 AoMF you can shred through dr cold iron and silver. Even on my Velociraptor with a druid companion character I have the AoMF mostly for that reason.

short answer: all the stuff in ultimate campaign and 1 pp per day.

The feat Eldritch Claws gives your natural weapons the magic and silver properties.

A Bodywrap of Mighty Strikes +4 only costs 48.000 compared to the 64.000 of an Amulet of Mighty Fists +4 and allows you to bypass adamantine damage reduction as well as cold iron, silver and magic, but it's effectiveness per round depends on your BAB (needs BAB 11 for 3 attacks, so not that useful in PFS if you have claw/claw/bite unless you're a full BAB class, and even then only at the end of your career).
