PFS Suli recommendations

Advice

Dark Archive

I have just received a Suli boon at a con, does anybody have any recommendations for a good build? I don't know what I am going to make of it, so I thought to post it on the forums.

Shadow Lodge

Strength-based ninja, unchained Monk using the Suli favored class bonus, Eldritch Scion Magus, basically any paladin but Tempered Champion is pretty cool and Silver Balladeer Bard.

Basically anything where both the racial stat boni(heh) and elemental assault see use. Word of warning though, a negative Int mod along with a low skill rank class is pretty tricky to play in PFS. Skills are king.

Personally I went for a Suli Ectoplasmatis//fractured mind, but it's kinda hard to find a good direction for a melee spiritualist without a phantom. I'm trying to figure some kinda reach monster but the class doesn't get a lot of feats so I dunno. He's at level 6 soon so I hope I get an epiphany quick.

Oracles could work with a Suli, too. Most oracle revelations work best with a strength build, so strength+charisma is pretty cool. A bloodrager could be flavorful too.

My guess is that I will trade off my Suli to someone else who really wants it unless something really inspires me soon. I need a storyhook for my characters, or I'll never play them. When I got my Undine, Nixie, her story just came to me.

My Suli has been silent, and refuses to talk to me. It's just sitting there on its piece of paper -- all flat.

(Yes, I know that technically all boons are flat and two dimensional being printed on paper. But some of them leap off their pages right away.)

Hmm

The Concordance

My Suli just reached level 7. He's a Str-based Ninja (Scout archetype) with max ranks in Bluff and Disguise, and Armor Proficiency Medium and Heavy. When I sit down to the table I introduce him as a Shizuru-worshiping Human Samurai ^^.

As with any Int-decreased Race (Nagaji, some Dhampirs, some Tieflings), I recommend a class with lots of skill points. Going Ninja allowed me to dump Int, still have an effective build, and still have decent skill ranks (5pts/level).

Bloodrager seems like it would be cool, too.

Duetist bard, dump int, get sage figment familiar. You say you were too dumb for bard school so one night you made up familiar who is smart enough for bard school

Silver Crusade

Muser mentioned Eldritch Scion for Magus, but there's a Suli only archetype for magus too. The Elemental Knight give you incremental elemental assault (lets you use the elemental assault ability in 1 round increments) and if you burn 4 rounds you can regain 1 arcane pool point.

Taking the feat alone is good especially with the monk favored class bonus.

Scarab Sages

I'm thinking about going Paladin/Oracle with my Suli.

You get Charisma to saves as paladin and Charisma to AC instead of Dex as Oracle. You can get away with lower Dex and Wis.

Other option I might go for is some sort of Samurai / Ninja build. But I haven't given it much thought yet.

Magical Girl Vigilante.

Just think of the amazing transformation sequence you can have:

"Fire!"

"Air!"

"Earth!"

"Water!"

"By your powers combined, I am CAPTAIN GOLARION!"

They mostly read Paladin to me. Though I've not found Suli all that tempting to play (despite the fact I can now create the 5-boon Suli).

If you could combine the Suli-only magus archetype and Eldritch Scion (which I'd probably figure out a way in a homegame to allow), that would interest me, unfortunately they don't stack.

I'm going to make a skald with level or two in barbarian for my Suli. Sounds fitting to me. Negative Int might be troublesome, though.

Monk paladin fighter sentinel? Mine works great.

I'm playing a Suli Brawler and at 10th level I'm dishing out around 80 points of Damage a round with my full attack. So might wanna have a look at that :)

I tried to look at what we have been told about Suli personalities and culture. We know that humans find them very charming and, according to Inner Seas Races, they have a culture of bragging. So, I went with a Constable (Cavalier), Order of the Cockatrice, for mine. He is still just 2nd level, but I'm going to have a blast roleplaying his bragging powers. The mechanics of the Constable actually lend themselves to being a "Gaston"-or-Frat-House-President-type that everyone is inspired to be around, even though he is a bit of the self-centered jerk.

edit: Of course it is important to play his self-obsession for laughs for the enjoyment of the whole table, like Gaston, and not actually be an annoying jerk as a player.

^I thought about a Constable too. And Ghost Rider. The stats are darn perfect for a Ghost Rider. Buy a chain weapon, wreath it in flames(elemental assault) and you can do Johnny Blaze too.

Had the same idea for a ghost Rider but with an ifrit using the cavalier archetype from ultimate intrigue.

My thought for my second Suli is almost the opposite in personality, but still very grounded in the setting: an Iroran Paladin (Inner Sea Combat) from Jalmeray. This makes use of the Strength and Charisma, and gives me the chance to play a Paladin and Monk at the same time, neither of which I've done before.

I opted for a Paladin #/Celestial Bloodrager 1. Paladin of Shelyn, took Unscathed and Skilled(Sing) as traits (Deft Dodger too, but I have a special boon for an extra trait). INT of 6 = bag of bricks, confident beyond reason, tries to be positive and uplifting but comes off an enormous jerk due to poor word choice. First feat was Fey Foundling and I do two-handed weapon fighting for a giant beatstick that has only ever gotten close to dropping once (he got crit and then hit again, hard). He's 9.2 at the moment and I have almost universally played up, including in Bonekeep 1. All of his saves are 12+, and he has unresolved emotional issues resulting from being physically incapable of fear, leading to the occasional rage-fueled slaughter of BBEGs. Now take that, and imagine if you put Zapp Brannigan, Capt. Hammer, and Gaston into a box and mashed them together, used quotes from Minsc (Balder's Gate 2) and those other characters, and compulsively sang out loud while travelling/pretty much any reason.

That is my Suli Paladin.

What's stunning to me is I've used Perform(Sing) so often to an -astounding- benefit in just under half of the games I've played in. I don't know if I got lucky or it's just that common, but it's been one of my favorite characters of all time.

You and I seem to follow similar patterns. My second Suli is looking to be an abboration sorc who dives into melee with a shield-other'ed tumor familiar.

Stune Cardamine, Suli Tattooed Sorcerer evocation Blood Line Orc. Str 10, Dex 14, Con 12, Int 12, Wis 10, Cha 18. Mag Lineage(Scorch Ray), Wayang Splhunter(Ear PrcScream), SplFcs Evoc, Fmlr Tattoo, going for Spell Specialization, Metamagic Intensify, Metamagic Empower... kinda the usual blaster type.
