I'm thinking about creating a scenario where people play Scooby and the gang using PFRPG rules and pre-generated characters.

I want Scooby to be an awakened animal and a full-fledged PC, and the other characters to have abilities and flaws similar to the rest of the gang.

All the humans should have at least one level of investigator, with appropriate archetypes. PC level probably about 3rd so dips into other classes are possible and there are some interesting feats and class features.

Characters will have almost no magic or spells or weapons or armor, but typical wealth and mundane, alchemical, occult and tech items that fit the iconic characters. They should also have spent a good portion of wealth on items like books, trap making equipment, a vehicle and stashes of food.

I'm looking for suggestions for character builds, if any of you are inclined to share your ideas. My goal is to match iconic character abilities, skills, equipment and behavior as much as possible for roleplaying - with a group that relies mostly on their wits and luck to solve mysteries and doesn't have the typical capabilities of a party that regularly engages in combat.

Once I've settled on the character builds, I'll develop a familiar story with each act incorporating a classic opponent of appropriate CR.

It's been a while, so my memory of these characters may be incorrect.

I would probably keep Velma as single-class investigator, likely picking empiricist for the archetype. Halflings get an alternate racial trait related to being cowardly, the adopted trait may be able to get you that for Shaggy. In the later series, Fred needs a trap-based archetype (both ranger and rogue could do this). I have no ideas for the others

Danger prone Daphne Would be cool as an oracle with the haunted curse.

I would make Shaggy an urban ranger and use his favored enemy ghosts as defensive. With urban step he can run away even on rooftops and through abandoned buildings. As an elf he could accidentally find secret doors. Somehow he and Scooby should have disguise checks. Probably his backstory should give him disguise as a class skill. Maybe that can be gained by taking the flaw cowardly.

I think the gang would be a mix of noncaster heroic classes- Warning a few spoilers below

Velma- investigator sleuth or empiricist with high Int/Wis and low Cha and lots of knowledge and other wis and int based skills

Daphne- maybe bard like the diva or celebrity archetype but no spells- high Cha and remember the girl can sing as she was in that rock band- the gangs morale drops quite a bit when she leaves

Shaggy- maybe a very poorly built fighter or rogue- he did do that stints the army- low abilities all around- lots of run and extra movement feats- also has disguise, climb, swim skills

Fred- trapper ranger archetype fits him pretty well- could also be sleuth investigator or rogue with lots of trap rogue talents - good abilities all around except prob a low Wis- obviously high disable device

Scooby- awakened dog- a lot like Shaggy build-

Hotdog Waters?- something similar to Velma but not as optimized

Gang generally has a good mix of skills- they do a lot of stealth, perception sense motive, diplomacy(gather info), and even escape artist

Other classes that might fit are archaeologist bard with no spells or some weird swashbuckler build I guess

On a side I really got into this show when I watched it with my kids- far superior to the old show- I really hope they make more of them- it was a really best storyline I thought

There is a group playing this way, where at least one player posts regularly (?) and has videos of their adventures posted online. I think they are playing Carrion Crown. All of the monsters there make for a perfect Scooby Show!

I THINK they went:

Fred: Paladin

Velma: Cleric (MAybe Oracle?)

Daphne: Sorceress

Scooby: Awakened dog using Orc stats

Shaggy: Alchemist. His alchemical creations/buffs are the scooby snacks. He also took the Archetype that gives you an alchemical construct. THAT is the Mystery Machine!

When using the battle map, he uses the Lego Video Game pieces for his Shaggy PC and the mystery machine mini lego (Same set) :)

A bard without spells is only half of a class. I'd suggest using Freebooter Ranger instead as a good magic light class with an inspiration-like mechanic available from level 1.

You have to use the hallway chase scenes where they're being pursued and the different parties come out different doors each time they exit a room.

That's a corridor of doors. The fun part is the two warp locked doors. Scooby can stick his head through the door and see himself from behind. :)
