How to become a venture agent

GM Discussion

I have gained support from my local hobby shop to begin running pathfinder games at the store. I would like to become a venture agent to start running the games. How can I do that?

Good luck becoming a venture agent. You should contact your local venture critters a list of venture critters

A map of places pfs is played to look for your neighbors

You don't need anything other than a PFS number to run games though.

You start running games at your local shop without having to have a title or anything. Stick up some posters, buy/download a scenario (Master of the Fallen Fortress, First Steps Part I, and the We Be Goblins series are all free downloads and can get you started) and go from there!

Getting in contact with a venture officer, however, is going to get you support from someone who's been doing this for a while and - if you become a VA - access to some support (ie, scenarios) from Paizo.

BigNorseWolf, this is the first I've seen this map. Is this a common tool for the PFS community?

As the above have said, no special rank is needed to host and run games.

1. Pick a scenario you like, and invite a group to play.
2. Create an event number: go to 'My Pathfinder Society' from the PSF page, click on 'GM/Event Coordinator', fumble through the confusing process of creating an event, record the event number it gives you.
3. Have an awesome game.
4. Record the event number on their chronicle sheets.
5. Go back to 'GM/Event Coordinator' to record the event after it is done.

I made it a few weeks ago. its publicly editable. The password is

First - Welcome to Pathfinder Society and thank you in advance for wanting to run games for people and share the fun of this hobby with others! :)

As for VA, etc., Rigby's and DM Livgin's posts are definitely the way to go there!

The real trick will come later when you want to be a VL or VC - then you have to engage the current ones in single combat and take their hea...

er...perhaps I've said too much ^^;

Note that the major benefit of becoming a VA is that you get all the scenarios for free. But my understanding is that registered retailers also gain scenarios for free, so if you are working closely with the store and just need the scenarios, that may solve your problem right there.

Even so, it I still a good idea to get in touch with your local VOs, since they can help you cross advertise and figure out what nights won't conflict with other local games.

From the retailer page at paizo.

Quote:

Welcome, Retailers!

Hobby retailers are integral to the success of Pathfinder, and we welcome you to paizo.com! While you are here, please take a few moments to register your store on Paizo's Retail Locator below. Registering your store will allow Pathfinder players near you to locate and patronize your store, and also comes with a number of additional benefits:

Regular retailer-focused Pathfinder Society email updates
FREE Pathfinder Society Roleplaying Guild adventure scenarios as they are released (about 2 per month)
FREE Pathfinder Society Adventure Card Guild adventure scenarios as they are released (about 1 per week)
One FREE physical copy of an Adventure Card Game Base set for store demos (1 per set, per store, US retailers only)

I'm trying to get the free scenarios to run. I've reached out to a few VO's listed on website but I haven't received any responses yet. I'll keep this thread up to date with my progress.

I have also reached out to a couple people about becoming an Agent but haven't heard anything either. Tonya said I could email her about it when I spoke to her at Paizocon, but she's probably too busy. It would be nice to be certified.

I dont know exactly where in the process you are. If you reached out to your local Venture Captain and they approved, it still needs to pass by Tonya. Untill she has the time in her scedule to review and approve, no one gets certified.
