A B-wing the most powerful fighter? Pfeh. Let me teach you about firepower...

casually sets y wing turret to target incoming fighters

The B Wing is an actual Bomber... I think it wins on that payload too.

~kssh~
It doesn't need to win on payload.
~kssh~
It just needs to hit your engines.
~kssh~
TIE wins that way.

Nah... if you enter my front arc you die instantly. And freehold's turret can pick off any Ties trying to sneak around out of arc.

Besides even if you fire a bomb you have no targeting I can simply move my fighter out of the way and it misses.

Or I could just use a TIE/sa and blow you out of the sky from outside of your targeting range with a salvo of guided missiles :p

TIE/sa bombers were why the B-wing wasn't used in larger numbers by the Rebels.

no, it was because they were difficult to fly and expensive, according to X-wing novels.

I love the B Wing. The most advanced heaviest hitting fighter out there with the strongest shields. Designed to go toe to toe with capital ships.

Isn't that the truth! I cheered during Jedi when a bunch of B-Wings took out that Star Destroyer.

According to Essential Guide to Warfare, the TIE/sa was also used by the Empire to counter B-wings. They launched guided missiles into the B-wing's flight path. The B-wing's maneuverability made them easy prey for this tactic.

Except that the Y-Wing's turret holds the Ion Cannons. The Laser Cannons are mounted in the nose. A good solid hit from the Ion Cannons will leave other ships drifting, once the shields go down. ( God how I miss playing X-Wing on the PC. )

All I know is my toy Y-Wing was the beezneez.

Otherwise I invested heavily in Robotech toys.

I got the X-Wing for Christmas in '77.

hate you.

So much.

You shouldn't. It didn't last long. The spring that separated the wings broke after a few days. <grumble, grumble, piece of junk>

I had an x-wing back in the 70s but I really want the ARC 170, A-wing and the new Falcon now.

My "big" thing back when was an inherited (more or less) Captain Power ship and two action figures.

Anyway, this makes me wonder if action figures will be made from Starfinder.

That would be... awesome. XD

I got my Y-Wing at a garage sale but everything else I earned by helping with the butchering and doing chores for an old blind man down the road that insisted on calling me Jerry.

I think I remember seeing a Y-Wing at a Comic store here in Pittsburgh. I'll check to see if it's still there.

Mine's long gone, I think I gave it to a younger brother.

What I realized about this statement while walking the dog is, thirty years later, every winter I shovel the sidewalk for an old lady down the road that insists on calling me Steve.

Dammit, just when I was going to reenvision Rick and Morty with you as Jerry Smith.

Well now I can reenvision American dad with you as Steve Smith.

Mm. They're both Smiths.

With hot wives/moms!

Maybe I should leave off impersonating NobodysHome and start impersonating you.

Or you know just kidnap your wives and make you fight through hordes of minions to get them back.

You know, Freehold, it occurs to me: you should really watch Farscape. It has a character or two that may be relevant to your interests.

I like Farscape. Or at the very least it is okay/tolerable. I miss the blue plant priest lady.

She was cool. I'm sad with how they ended her story.

Maybe it's my down-to-Earth practicality, but even though they are 'technically' obsolete I'd stick to a Z-95 or a Y depending on the role I was looking for.

They seem the sort of spacecraft that could handle duct tape, baling wire, chewing gum, cardboard, etc. in the repair process better than all the Imperial 'high-performance tinfoil' and the A/B wings that are super-sophisticated deathtraps...

B-Wings, being technically bombers, really needed an escort for protection. Perhaps a pair of X-Wings or Y-Wings, or some mix thereof, to take care of the Tie/sa fighters.

B wings aren't technically bombers- they are bombers. It was the y wing that was multirole.

You kids, with your Z-Bombers and Tights Flighters. In my day, we had solar-powered fliers powered by Radium Brains, and we liked it!

Quite so. True enough. They still needed escort fighters. Any opinions as to the best fighter to overcome the Tie/sa?

Standard X-wing will do it. Or anything maneuverable. TIE/sa is a beached whale in space.

So I can blow the enemy Star Destroyer into pretty fireworks.

Mine.

Don't aim for the exhaust port. Some jerk tried that last week and the missile blew up early. We still haven't found a repair team willing to brave the wreckage and reopen it.

Perhaps one of High Admiral Teradoc's ships instead?

I was just curious, really -- I'm just here to blow up enemy snubfighters . . . .

Have fun!

The Expendables may be a bit tough. For some reason, they're angry about their name. The Cannon Fodders are displeased as well, but they learned to live with it.

I've learned today, I don't know shit about spacecraft.

Which, in turn, makes me want to listen to Mr. Zebra.

She was the female warrior in Road Warrior. (the 80s movie) I had a crush on her as a kid and a kind of crush on her as a blue alien while I am an adult.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO! I was just about to rewatch it!

I guess setting my wallpaper to pictures of Scorpius will have to suffice for now...

C'moooonnnnnnn, Netflix, this is, like, the future! Gimme somethin' good to watch! XD
