Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Pathfinder is my game of choice for gaming. I've been running some permutation of 3rd edition since high school every Friday with a notable exception of when I was in college.

Since moving to Pathfinder there have been a multitude of books and systems that I have tried, and was wondering if there are any specific systems or third party books that seriously enhance the game for you guys?

From Paizo themselves, I seriously love Ultimate Intrigue and Ultimate Campaign. Both of those books are must haves for my table.

For me, while running Wrath of the Righteous I noticed that it was quickly becoming unwieldy. So I looked around and found:
Mythic Solutions

It fixed a lot of the issues I was having, seriously check it out if you are going towards that AP

Also, Making Crafting Work has been a fun addition to make crafting very capable and easier to work through.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

For me, the psionics system from Dreamscarred Press is a must-have in my games. I also incorporate my own fixes for the Monk class, but that's a whole other story.

Silver Crusade

Totally agree on Ultimate Campaign, it's probably my fave Paizo book aside from the APG.

As for 3p stuff, Spheres of Power and Path of War are both aces, solving problems inherent in the system on two different ends to push everything closer to the middle rather than keeping it apart like some aspects of the system do.

Agreed on the above. While not a user of Spheres of Power myself, I see how the system helps a lot in balancing casters. Dreamscarred Press's stuff is great too, and Path of War+Expanded makes it easy to build quite varied martials, without the fear of falling into trap choices.

I've been loving the Spheres of Power magic system in my games. I find it more versatile and balancing than the base system. Provided your caster players don't mind it. http://paizo.com/products/btpy96pr?Spheres-of-Power

I hate to make this sound like an echo chamber but the Spheres of Power and Path of War are two supplements that I will always use and advise others to try.

As N. Jolly says, it definitely helps move things to the middle. Some things may seem odd and some classes may be marginalized, but I really don't see a problem with that in some cases.

EDIT: I think I'll check out that "Making Crafting Work" and the Mythic books put out by Legendary Games to keep with the spirit of things.

Silver Crusade

Have to give a shout out to Pathfinder Unchained. We're using automatic bonus progression and the dynamic magic item creation, and they've enhanced the play experience for everyone.

Dreamscarred's psionics materials and Path of War are both standard options at my tables.
