D&D 5e Wartime game interest check.

Recruitment

Hullo, hello, salutations, bonjour, hi.

I was considering running a 5th edition game, set in wartime. The basic premise is a war-torn world, and you would be a member of one of the armies. Please post if you would be interested, and what type of army you would like to play with (mercenary, knightly, what leaders do they have?)

I would be allowing all player options from the PHB, DMG, SCAG, and EEPG. UA would be on a case-by-case basis, but definitely no Undying Light, Revanents, or Mystics.

I'm always up for 5E, and I'm always up for war stuff. Tally ho!

I only have the basic book, but I've got a lot of ideas for running armies. =)

If I had my druthers, I'd run a good-aligned Libertarian society, with a military headed by Warlocks who shackle demons for destructive intent. The public is constantly debating about the philosophy of yoking other beings for their military gains, but the pragmatic leaders say that it's a symbiotic relationship that keeps the country safe from the ravages of war.

I understand this might not be feasible, but as the first response I thought I'd start brainstorming and see what came up. =)

Well, if the idea doesn't get in as the main focus, it'll probably either be a division of the army or an antagonist. I like the idea though!

I'll probably be looking for 4-8 players. A decent sized squadron.

I do enjoy 5e.

How dare you steal my "Tally Ho" and continue with such a sweet idea?

I am totally down to playing a cool mixed army. Picturing knights in shining armor riding alongside magically shackled demons with warlocks and wizards doing artillery in the backlines... I can get reeeeally behind this idea.

Plus considering 5e low levels lethality added to the inherent lethality of war... that would mean if we start at level 1, those who survive and level would really feel as heroes and legends.

And I'm always game when it comes to playing the rise to glory.

Interested. If this does happen I would have some questions, but the premise certainly intrigues me. :)

I haven't played 5e before, but I have the PHB and I'm looking to try it out!

I'd probably enjoy a heroic sort of game, but that could range from being part of a knight-ly army fighting against a tide of evil to a game where the enlisted players come to terms with the corruption of the war and the leaders on all sides.

In any case, I've always liked the trope of the heroes being up against overwhelming odds and needing to secure alliances from other peoples and nations to unite against a common enemy.

I'm a big fan of 5e, and I'm interested. Are you allowing items from the Sword Coast guide? What kind of setting details can you give? :D

5e me likey.

5e is a good system and war is what it's good for. Count me as interested!

Well, it seems many people are interested. Here is the recruitment thread. Good luck!
