I cannot recommend the Snake and Bake.

Aside from the *significant* lines that are omnipresent, the one time I did try to eat there it took them three hours to get our order... and then they came to us and told us they were out of pretty much everything we had ordered.

Other experiences may have been kinder to other folks, but it's on my Do Not Buy list.

I have yet to see it not packed at any time from Wed through Sunday of GenCon. I'm fairly confident the staff hates us.

Obviously, you were there between 7 AM and midnight. That was your mistake.

The only times I've been there, it was for a late night snack after all the games for the day were done. ie 1 AM or so. It was still busy, but we were in and seated immediately, and they had no problem serving us. Also, they bring back the breakfast menu at midnight, so you can get pancakes. Can't do that during lunch and dinner times.

As a first-time, tier 1 GM and first-time GenCon attendee, I was wondering if there were any veterans willing to share some advanced tips, beyond being sure to eat, sleep, drink, shower, and travel light to your tables?

As a first time GenCon attendee, I'd say don't sign up for too much, so you have time to take in the entire convention. But that ship has apparently already sailed.

For a GM doing lots of sessions, sore throat losanges. Seriously. Along with lots and lots of water.

What can I say; I like a challenge! Having said that I did give consideration to buying some generic tickets to play at a table during my off hours, but then I reminded myself that I'm going to have an 18-hour day on Friday, and then 11 1/2 hours the next day as is. :P

Be sure to go see the vendor room on Sunday afternoon. Lots of vendors will be packing up by then, but there's still tons to see, even if you have no plans to buy anything.

Uh-oh. I hope there's going to be enough maps available... I'm NOT going to stand in line when the ravening hordes go charging in at 10... hopefully things will die down by 12 or 1 or so...

I wouldn't count on being able to get in to the Paizo booth without an hour or more wait on Thursday. I also wouldn't count on them having enough copies of every map used in the special, since I'm sure you aren't the only ones trying to buy them last minute that way. If you can pick them up from a local game store before going to Gen Con, that would be ideal.
