New GM seeks scenario advice please

Pathfinder Society

Hello everyone,

I just started playing Pathfinder with the beginner box. I am going to run another session for new people and half of the group already played the beginners box scenarios with me so I can't use them anymore.

I thought about switching to PF-Society adventures as they should be short by nature.
As it's all new players to Pathfinder and Golarion I want to leave the faction stuff out and only re-use the adventure to have a night of fun (and potentially win some new players for our growing group). Normally we would aim to play 4-6h sessions.

I am wondering if you experienced guys could suggest one or more level 1/beginner level scenarios for getting the group started without delving too much into society stuff.

We are all new and I must say seven seasons with own meta plot and plenty of adventures are a bit overwhelming for me to make a decision.

I hope someone could help please?

Greetings from Switzerland,

Master of the fallen fortress, the confirmation , the consortium compact are all level 1s that give a nice introduction to the society.

really, you have to go looking for the metaplot sometimes. Don't worry about it.

Dataphiles 3/5

We Be Goblins is a great 1st level adventure, and Crypt of the Everflame while longer is a great adventure in its own right that doesn't really bring up the Society until the which might be a great way to lead into more PFS scenarios.

Silver Crusade 1/5

Just to make it clear (and good morning from Germany, my Switzerland neighbor):
You want to use the PFS scenarios without actually playing PFS, correct?
Do you plan on having your players be PFS agents? This would change some answers - the Confirmation, for example, is a great introductory adventure to the society. But it loses quite a bit of its charme (in my opinion) if it's just used as scenario without these connections.
Some scenarios work fine if you start them with "X hired you to do Y" (or something along those lines), while others are quite a bit more interwoven with the society (All those "Your predecessors screwed up, go fix it" scenarios).

It should also be noted that while all PFS characters have to belong to a faction, faction missions are gone from society play. There are sometimes boons in scenarios for members of a certain faction (e.g. "Zarta Dralneen asks Dark Archive members before the scenario to do X"), but it's far more in the background than before.

Thanks everyone. My intention is to use them as a pure beginner scenario without society , factions or any kind of metaplot. I do not want to start a real module as I am not sure if the group will stay in that constellation so I thought PFS scenarios could be a short alternative for test games.

If people decide to stay and continue then I might give the modules or even an adventure path a go, however at the very moment I still need to convince people for the group and I am too lazy to create something on my own to be honest.

Liberty's Edge 4/5

In many scenarios, the Society acts as a MacGuffin, a reason for you being in a place, sent after an item or an agreement. If needed, you can simply have the Venture Captain hire out the PCs, instead of order them out on a mission.

I've had a lot of fun running Decline of Glory (0-24)

A great combo is Black Waters (0-06) and School of Spirits (7-05), they tie together without needing the Society thread.

If they hit level 3 or higher, Blood at Dralkard Manor may be my favorite scenario (It's murder at level 1-2, so they retired it)
