Letter From the Decemvirate

Grand Lodge

Grand Lodge

Wandering around in the courtyard of the Grand Lodge is a handsome bald man of 6'8". Bare-chested, the beautiful man only wears a band around his large left arm, clearly meant for a head, and a robe which is only halfway worn held in place by a belt. He stares at a bound letter in his right hand while scratching his cleanly shaven head with his left index finger. The letter he holds looks to be a simple letter if not for the official looking rune on it.

Stopping a random passerby, "'Suli is sorry, does you know where Lady Henderthane?"

Scarab Sages

A dark blue-haired studious-looking gnome with just a twinge of white in his bushy eyebrows strolls by, his head buried in a book.

"Sacralige! Libel! How could Lutier do this to me! I never said any such-"

He comes upon the scene with the Suli named Suli.

"Ah, Suli. Yes, what's this you're on about? Lady Henderthane? Isn't she back in Chelliax, or just off the coast at any rate, setting up that lodge of hers? Something about some clerical mishap with a Hellknight contingent to be stationed- " he pauses for a moment, remembering who he is talking to. "You know what? Doesn't matter, she's not here. What do you need?"

Grand Lodge

"Someone little just gave Suli letter," Suli begins, holding up the sealed letter."Suli need to give letter to Lady Henderthane. Letter probably for Lady Henderthane. If letter for Suli, then Lady Henderthane might read to Suli,"Suli finished sounding a little embarrassed.

Scarab Sages

The gnome sighs a bit and holds out his hand.

Alright Suli, hand the letter here, I can at least tell you who it is addressed to. If it is to Venture Captain Henderthane, I think I could persuade Sasha to teleport it over."

Silver Crusade

A beautiful Kelishite woman clad mostly like a belly dancer, but carrying several fairly large weapons, steps out of Skyreach. Her haramaki is worn on her hips and seems to glow and shimmer.

She smiles broadly at the large exotic man and the gnome.

”Ah Grunder! So good to see you again.” She reaches down to pinch the gnome’s cheek slightly.

“How come you didn’t tell me about your friend there. He is a sight that all Arshaeans would be glad to behold. A pleasure to meet you sir! I am Honor, and I’d love to get to know you.”

Honor winks at the large man when she says the word know.

She also appears to be carrying a similar letter to the one that Suli has.

Scarab Sages

Grundersnutt sighs visibly, and fidgets away from Honor's cheek-pinching with a scowel. He takes a moment to compose himself before going on further.

"Lady Whiteveil, I . . . I feel you may not fully grasp the situation. He may not be the most . . . let's just say there are some issues with him that should become apparent post-haste.

"Ahem, Honor Whiteveil may I introduce you to Suli . . . of the Sulis. He is a Suli who was never given a name other than Suli. He is a . . . I would hazard to say monk of the society? He is extremely adept at unarmed combat at any rate. He also has some rather esoteric elemental abilities stemming . . . I am guessing from his bloodline and inner 'ki' magic, but I am unsure exactly."

Grundersnutt turns to the Suli.

"Now Suli, this lady named Honor," Grundersnutt says almost condescendingly, as if he was talking to a child. "She nice lady who helps people. She very good at making bad people go away by using big sword there. She also pathfinder."

Grand Lodge

"Hello Lady Whiteveil" Suli says neutrally with a low bow, not seeming to notice the wink or intonations. Suli turns to Grundersnutt and hands him the letter obediently.

The simple letter is wrapped and sealed in what is obviously the seal of the Decemvirate with a tag blatantly addressed "Suli, Slave of House Henderthane, Dutiful Servant to Jasmine Henderthane, Sponsored by the Dark Archive".

Scarab Sages

The gnome reads the address a few times, almost not believing his eyes. Then he turns to Suli.

"Suli, this letter clearly and unequivocally states that you and none other are the Intended recipient." He pauses for a moment and notes the blank expression on the Suli's face, then sighs. "Filigree say this for Suli, not Lady Henderthane."

Silver Crusade

"Looking at him I would say it is unsurprising that he would be adept at unarmed combat."

Seeing Suli hand Grundersnutt a particularly sealed letter.

"Oh! I have one of those too! Mine was addressed to me. Filigree?"

Honor seems to be a bit confused by Grundersnutts words. After a few moments of pondering.

"Wait did you say slave?"

Dark Archive

A lost-looking half-elf of clear Varisian descent walks by. She appears to be complaining about something.

In Varisian:
"Ugh, this place is a maze! How does anyone find their way around without a map or a star chart?"

The petite woman stops when she sees the trio conversing.

Scarab Sages

"Oh good, another congregation," the gnome mutters. He then clears his throat and turns to the newcomer, trying to mask the irritation in his face for having to talk to a group.

"Ahem, you are perhaps lost young pathfinder? Yes, the grand lodge can be a bit difficult to get used to. Hold on.". He starts rummaging through his pack and pulls out a small birdcage with a bird in it. For a moment, the bird seems dead, but after a bit of jostling, it wakes up.

"Bigby? Bigby, wake up. Nice new pathfinder here needs to get somewhere around lodge. Can you show him around?".

Surprisingly the bird responds with a 'no, I'm sleepy.' There is a brief exchange where Grundersnutt argues with his familiar, but eventually the bird agrees with a 'oh, alright' and flies over to the female half-elf and lands on her shoulder. In a chirp-like, sing-song voice it asks 'where do you wanna go?'

The gnome then turns to Honor "Now, to the matter of Suli, yes, he is a slave of house Henderthane. Dunno how she got a slave into the society, got the impression that they frowned on that sort of thing, but she's a stickler for the rules, so I assume she found a loophole of some sort.

"As for Filagree, somehow Suli got it in his head that's what you call writing. I just roll with it. Speaking of. . . he turns to Suli. "Suli want Grundersnutt to read his Filagree for him?"

"I'm trying to find my way back to the Dark Archive. I was called away on some business that turned out to be not at all important, and I'd like to get back to the tome I was studying."

Grand Lodge

"No Mister Grundersnutt, Lady Henderthane says that Suli has to tell her of all missions Society sends Suli on," Suli oddly declares to all present as though reciting. Then, lowering his head in embarrassment, "Suli not know how to read filigree."

After a few moments Suli turns to the half-elf. "Lady Dralneen would want Suli to guide little elf. Suli knows the way."

Suli stops and scratches his head looking confused, "Suli not remember way," he says finally, lowering his head again.

Scarab Sages

Grundersnutt sighs and shakes his head. It is clear that he has already divined the answers to the problem, and is somewhat flabbergasted that others have not. Again, he tries to compose himself.

"Well, I'm not a member of the Dark Archive so I don't know where they tend to congregate, but I do know that they frequent the Overflow Archives. Bigby, if you take our good friend . . . I don't believe I caught your name. Anyway, take her there, then at least she should find some members of her own faction.

"Suli, if you must inform Lady Henderthane, let's get to work. If you accompany me to the center of the grand lodge, I think I can cast a spell to find her with that distinctive armor of hers if she's still here. If she's indeed in Chelliax, we can then go to the research room. I think Sasha can teleport you to where she is."

The half-elf raises an eyebrow at this.

"Cathran, and thank you. It's too easy to get turned around when I can't see the sky."

Grand Lodge

Waving to Cathran, "Bye little elf. Please tell Lady Dralneen that Suli helped."

"Okay Mister Grundersnutt, you are smart. Suli will follow you"

Sovereign Court

A man in Chelish courtier’s clothing with noble house livery walks into the hall.

Knowledge Nobility DC 15:
His livery is of House Henderthane.

Knowledge Nobility DC 20:
This livery is particular to Venture Captain Lady Jasmine Henderthane

He bows to Honor and the other pathfinders other than Suli. Turning towards Suli, he pulls out a scroll and unrolls it.

He begins to read:

“Suli it has come to my attention that you are being requested for a task specifically be the Decemvirate. It is my desire that you follow all instructions given to you by the Decemvirate. I understand that the researcher Grundersnutt is also going to be along on this mission. Please listen to him when you are unsure of what to do.

Venture Captain, Marquise d'Railford, Lady Jasmine Henderthane, and so on and so forth.”

The man then turns to the gnome and hands him the scroll that bears Lady Henderthane’s personal seal. He then performs an about face and strides off the way he came.

Scarab Sages

A little dumbfounded, Grundersnutt receives the scroll graciously and watches the man leave.

"Huh, well, there you go Suli. I trust that is enough to assuage your fear- I mean, I hope Suli no need to talk to Lady Henderthane now.

"Wait, did he say I was going with you?"
