Legendary musician, Prince, dead at 57

Music & Audio

Just last week, Prince's private flight was re-routed and he was rushed to the hospital. He had been recuperating at home. This morning, police are reporting he was found dead at his home recording studio. He was only 57. :(

Worst part is that since he hated streaming and free video I can't even listen to him in remembrance today.

I dunno, but they're sure assembling one hell of a band in the afterlife from all these musicians.

Someone on Facebook commented that George R. R. Martin seems to be the author of 2016.

Minnesota Public Radio station The Current is broadcasting an all-Prince set right now and for the foreseeable future, interspersed with some DJ commentary and listeners' memories.

Holy crap, Richard Lyon of Negativland died too... also at 57.

I'm damn sad over this. I loved that weirdo. He was so talented...played so many instruments.

Go watch him playing that blistering solo at the end of "My Guitar Gently Weeps". He blows away everyone on stage, makes Dhani Harrison go from somber to happy, and then he throws his guitar into the frickin' Astral Plane. He turned a sad song written by George Harrison, during a concert to memorialize George Harrison, into a bombastic celebration of life. That's how I'll always remember him.

I'm very grateful that I got to see him play live at the Forum in Inglewood. He was spectacular.

I grew up to Prince, I liked his music. He is without question a talented artist, I was lucky to see one of his last performances last month at Avenue where I work.

But one of the times I can say I loved him was when he gayfully kicked off Kim (thirsty for publicity) Kardashian form his stage.

Very sad news. I really liked his music, and consider him to be one of the better all-around musicians the industry has ever produced. He's also easily in the top 25 of guitar players, I think. When I got home yesterday, I found out MTV had suspended all regular programming to play Prince music videos. First time I willingly turned to that channel in well over a decade.

He was an incredibly talented, yet extremely odd and eccentric dude.

This is one of the funniest, most interesting stories about Prince I ever heard ...

Kevin Smith on Prince.
