Two main house rules and several smaller ones.

Homebrew and House Rules

These are just a few of my house rules I've been writing out. The Wounds and Vigor variant has been tested and works well. The changes to Crossbows and Guns have not been tested, though. Everything is just me compiling everything I use. I'd love some feedback.

The Rules

I like the Vigor&Wounds implement. With the difficulty of healing Wound damage, there are actually some repercussions from surviving with 1 HP, instead of simply patching it up and continuing your dungeon crawl.

Vigor wrote:
Vigor is equal to Hitpoints + Constitution modifier + any other bonuses. Vigor acts as a buffer for Wounds and receives damage before Wounds. There are no penalties for loss of Vigor. The condition changes at each fourth of Health [Rested > Steady > Tired > Fatigued > Exhausted].

As Hitpoints is made up from hit die and levelxCon mod, is there a reason as to why you add your con modifier once more? I mean, it is already part of the formula.

(I checked the "Miscellaneous Rules" section, and it seems as if you have done away with the concept of "Hitpoints" completely if Vigor is only dependant on Hit die. But if I take both rules into account, that would mean you only add your Con Mod once to Vigor, correct?)

And you might want to change the name of the two most severe conditions. If loss of vigor truly doesn't result in any penalties, then calling it "Fatigued" and "Exhausted" would complicate it since those two already are negative conditions.

Disabled wrote:
When a character is both “Exhausted” and “Wounded”, they are now considered “Disabled”. They gain the staggered condition and must make a DC 10 Constitution check to stay conscious. Every action they take while disabled deals 1 Wound point. If the character has Vigor but is still Wounded, they do not gain the Disabled condition.

So if I have interpreted this right, there is no danger of bleeding out? Unless "being unconscious" is an action.
