False Magus Advice, Please

Advice

I am considering making a false magus. The main idea is someone who can go toe to toe while wielding a wand in his off hand. My first choice would be a Relic Master Fighter, however I am open to other suggestions. Any other advise would be appreciated as well.

Counterfeit Mage could do what you're looking for.

Or Unchained Eldritch Scoundrel. But then you actually get full Magus casting with the Wizard spell list.

Occultists (& similar, like the inquisitor archetype whose name I forget) may use implements like wands. Both Occultists and Inquisitors can be built to go toe-to-toe. If you're after someone with no magic of their own they're not an option, true.

Add Variant Multiclassing Magus and you also get Arcane Pool, Spellstrike and 3 Magus Arcana.

The Magician Bard gets some nice abilities for Wands: boosted UMD, can add Cha bonus to DC at 10th level, and use their caster level at 16th. They can also add spells from any Arcane spell list which lets you use a greater variety of wands without UMD.

It stacks nicely with Sound Striker,

Now that I have been able to define what I want better, I am thinking of a someone with little to no direct spellcasting abilities, but can do more than a vanilla marshal with ranks in UMD.

Scarab Sages

A Psychometrist Vigilante in UI might be what you want. They are mostly entirely martial, but they can use occultist implements for focus powers. No actual casting though.

Marshal? I don't know that class.

Assuming that you are being serious, it is hold over term from D&D 4e. Classes such as Fighter and Rogue that do not have any magic.

Do you mean martial?

Totally serious, as this is a forum for pathfinder so the inference is that you are talking about pathfinder terms. Without knowing what a "vanilla marshal" can do, it's quite hard to give any advice.

Going by your reply, I'll second the Counterfeit Mage suggestion.

EDIT: Ahh.. If Gisher is correct and it was a spelling error, that'd make much more sense.

Yeah, it was a spelling error, my bad.
