Given there's a PP cost to have your corpse retrieved, is there some sort of in-game reward for retrieving the bodies of fallen NPC pathfinders?

Satisfaction.

His PP is paid to the faction. That fact you are on the mission means he paid it. ;)

Note: there are missions where Pathfinders were left in unsavory places for long periods of time. The going joke is always they didn't have the prestige.

There are more than a few scenarios where recovering Pathfinders, sometimes dead sometimes alive, is very important to the scenario's success. In some, it's your primary mission. Usually, the "reward" comes in the form of the GP and PP you'd earn from the scenario, though sometimes there's a relevant boon.

Would be cool so see some sort of "discount body recovery" boon if you go the extra mile. Particularly if it is the rescued pathfinder paying back a favour.
Hmm aren't we rescuing a particular high level Pathfinder at the end of May?

Actually that could be the next Bonekeep series:
Being the "Recovery Team"
-Built in reason to be going to a dangerous area.
-Metric for success is the number of bodies recovered (assume a team of say 5-6)
-Bonus mission is to complete the original teams mission.
-Chronicle should definitely have a boon that grants bonus to charisma checks with other pathfinders.

Would be kind of cool to be called in as "The Cavalry" summoned to the local venture captains office in the middle of the night given a hurried briefing (possibly including a survivor of the previous team)

Thoughts?

The undertakersback?

Pharamsa robbers?

Department of returns

The ferrymen

The oarsmen

If I recall correctly there are at least two scenarios where rescuing a pathfinder gets you a "Free body recovery" boon.

And one where it gets you a discounted follower.

Often enough recovering an NPC pathfinder is the 1PP secondary objective. I guess the faction rakes in the other 4PP? That's some overhead.

Assuming an average table size of 5 and only one Pathfinder being recovered, the costs work out perfectly.

Good prestige point.
