Yeah, all the "peasant food" we used to eat because it's cheap is now either ridiculously expensive or hard to find. Ox tails, flank steak, mutton, parsnips, turnips, rutabaga... all are in one of those two.

I think there are some regions that refer to a rutabaga as a turnip, though.

Yeah in my area there are purple turnips and waxy turnips. That rutebega is a waxy turnip

My tuna sammich was delicious. I hope you found some sort of seafood sustenenance.

Got the oil changed, meds refilled, dog food refilled, money moved, cigarette lighter charger bought, and clothes washed and packed. Going to try to be out of here by 0600 so I get to my destination before dark. Google Maps time: 13 hours, 11 minutes. Wee.

I believe it is considered a turnip variety. White turnips and yellow turnips.

I had a sardine sandwich yesterday.

I am the only person I know who regularly eats canned sardines.

My grampa used to eat kipper snacks out of the can every few days. I think they are almost like sardines.

What goes on a Sardine Sandwich.

Nine more months till season 7?

NOOOOOOO!

*is quietly glad she never got into that show*

Freehold is avoiding spoilers like the plague. The TV series is some sort of wretched combination of book and fanfiction. I will have no part of it.

That awkward moment when you realize someone's clothing is hair.

My drive was 13 hours and 11 minutes this afternoon. This evening, it's 13 hours and 12 minutes. Lousy, rotten, no-good Google maps!

Sadly, no. That would probably be about 36 hours.

EDIT: Oh, no, only 27. Or 4 hours by air.

Well, off to the doctor again. Trying to unravel the mystery of the ever-expanding monkey

I am worried about my dog, Wilbur. He has been having troubles swallowing and he's been doing this dry heave thing. Of course this would happen when I have precisely 0 dollars to go to the vets :/

~winces~ Look online. It is no vet, but you might just be able to figure out how to help your dog. Oh, and Pat, good luck with the doctor!

Thanks. I think from my searches he might have a collapsing trachea. It's a condition small dogs sometimes get. There are treatments, but once again, money.

Thanks. It was reaching retirement age due to an encounter with a tree and being used at work, but I'd kinda would have liked to have made the decision myself.

damn. More bad news. Im sorrY about the dog.

I was in the back yard doing some work on Sunday while my two dogs were also out in the yard. It was funny watching a 15 pound dachshund mix chase and be chased by a 75 pound bull terrier mix. The big dog could have torn apart the little one but he was being very gentle.

If it helps, here is a heartwarming story.

Last month, my mom came across a bike discarded in a drainage culvert by the walkway to her apartment. She took it out and saw it was actually rather new. She called the police, made signs, placed an ad, and everything else. In her search for the owner, she then tried Craigslist and found a missing bike ad that described the one she found, and it had been stolen quite close to where she lives in Portland, OR. She was able to reunite it with its owner, which is all too rare in those cases.

Here's hoping my mom has a doppelgänger in Sweden.

Well, blood work came back normal. On the one hand, that is a good thing. On the other, it means that the calories are getting in stealthy, so now I have to keep a detailed journal of everything I eat. Le sigh

Stupid Ninja-Calories!
:P

Also, good luck with your canine friend. Hope you both do well! :)

Sorry about the bike Kaj.

What is it with people today? They think anything NOT nailed down is free for the taking?

And in some cases, even if it IS nailed down! :/

It is my humble opinion that those who take property that does not belong to them, should be beaten with said property.

Just a thought.

It makes me smile.

Have a good (Or at least better) day everyone!

:)
