I've been driving with a chipped windshield for about 3 years now. It hasn't even started to crack. YMMV.
I drove along with gravel trucks on one commute, so got 3 chips in the windshield. Instead of having them replaced, I had one of those companies that does onsite repair (with resin or something, I don't know) come out and do their thing. They turned it in to insurance. It was much cheaper than replacing the windshield, and the repairs held just fine.
My insurance company dropped me for "excessive claims". The windshield chip repairs were my only claims. No tickets, no accidents, no nothing else. So yeah, beware insurance companies.

Hm, sorry to hear about all teh car troubles! Hope everyone gets straightened out soon, and easy! :)
My insurance (State Farm) has never given me any trouble about my repairing my windows. And I once had to have the SAME front windshield replaced twice. In less than 3 days. :P
SOME of that is the individual agents, trying to maximize their $$$. and the rest is just business. :P I guess i have been lucky so far in that respect, with car insurance.
Dont get me started on my medical coverages over the years however,... :(
SO, University closed down Last Friday, so of course I'M booked with shows in my space through this Wednesday! Again, :(
ALMOST (but not quite) done with the front room. We will not have time to get new carpet installed, so we'll have to move all the furniture back in, because Christmas gathering is at MY house this year.
So, MAYBE by Thursday I'll be able to go Christmas shopping for my wife? MAybe?
If I'm lucky? :/
Happy Monday ya'all! :D

I just got a notice from my landlord that the next time I renew my lease, I will have to prove to them that I have $100,000 personal liability coverage on my renter's insurance. fscking aholes.

Sheesh, I thought having renters insurance was OPTIONAL, you know, for the renter. To replace your stuff in case of catastrophe. It has nothing to DO with the landlord's building, so why does he care?
None of my business, Just curious. :/
Sounds like it's time for a new landlord. (But I'm a jerk like that) ;P
I hope at least it's nothing you have to worry about too soon? :)
Good luck Ed! :)

So plans for tomorrow:
Do last minute shopping because waiting until Saturday is a REALLY bad idea.
Some how get vaccinated because I forgot to get my Flu shot and the last time I tried they were out...
Possibly try to decorate the tree but more likely is I try to fix a slightly broken laundry cabinet that rests on top of our dry sink; said dry sink is probably older than most of the houses in my neighborhood.
Try to decorate and also wonder if Thursday I'll get any one to show up for gaming...

Good luck with everything! I had a routine checkup appointment Monday and I'd forgotten to get my flu shot this year and they were out of the vaccine. So I guess I'll just go without and hope for the best.
I hope you get a crew together for your game, too!

I suspect that a lawyer will tell me the landlord is within their rights to include this provision in the lease. And if I don't like I have a right to find another place to live. Which I don't particularly want to do, because moving is a pain, especially when you're too old to do it yourself. I'm in decent shape for 70, but still...
Anyway, I have until August — the lease renews 1 September. Assuming I'm reading this notice correctly. My first impression was "you have to do this right now" (it starts "effective Jan 1, 2018") but then it says something about new/renewed leases, so I think I'm good for a while. Still annoying. I'll have to check my policy. maybe look for a new place, figure out how much moving will cost me... bah. Maybe I should just be Jack Reacher. No fixed address, no "stuff", just wander around the country getting into trouble. :-)
DC: you should be able to get a flu shot at most pharmacies for 0 copay if you have insurance. Or if your doctor plans to get more vaccine have the office call you when it comes in.

Thanks, Ed. I think my pharmacy is still offering flu shots, so I'll try to get up there Friday. Today and tomorrow I'm staying at home as I'm expecting a very, very expensive gift for my son to be delivered. There's never been a problem with package thieves around here, but this one is pretty large and easy to spot.

Good luck Ed. Just remember that 70 is the new 30.

What? 20 was a very good year. I see no need to pass it by just because everyone else does! ;P
As someone who was much more recently in their 20s, I feel obligated to remind everyone that bad memories fade over time, but good ones tend not to.
For now, I tend to skew closer to The Murderburgers' assessment, as opposed to Bruce Springsteen's.
