thats insane. You should not be working on Thursday at all.

The news is important! News never sleeps!

I always wanted to work in journalism.

Livin' the dream, man. :P

I'd rather be working too, so I don't take the hit to my paycheck.

When I was salaried, I loved working the Friday after Thanksgiving. Nobody was in the office. It was peaceful and quiet and I got so much done!!!

What's more, you're in distribution! Everybody knows that's where the real money is... ;)

That sucks, I was there the last two years. Sixteen hours Thanksgiving and Christmas.

May you find better times and better prospects in 2018. So mote it be.

ARGH!

ATT's apparent inability to get their act together (first they did not actually know what was/was not available in my neighborhood, Today they hosed the 2nd install attempt completely) does NOT, repeat NOT instill confidence in me regarding my was-to-be new service. :P

This kind of nonsense is the reason I'm leaving COX in the first place! :/

Yep. Time to call LUS and get a quote on their service(s). -_-

On the other hand,... planning all kinds of shenanigans for my break-the-diet-feast this Thursday. Already stocked up on a 6-pack of old favorites and new ciders for me to enjoy. :D

(I MAY have already enjoyed the first one a tad early. Maybe.)

Hey if anyone is interested in a PbP , my long-suffering home brew needs a few new players. PM me for details

So this morning I'm awakened by someone shouting, "Help! Is anyone there?". I jump out of bed, throw on a pair of sweats and a shirt and start toward my bedroom door, the person shouting for help the whole time. Then I realize it's coming from my phone and it's someone calling for help from one of the old timey detective serials I stream before I fall asleep. Sigh...

I used to listen to one of those serials a few years back. I kinda got hooked on it because a guy I worked with would play them on the radio when he worked

Happy post-Thanksgiving Treeforters!!

I hope everyone had fun

I did. My mother and I had a wonderful time. Aside from the weekends, the only times she and I have dinner together are the Holidays.

Oh yeah. My favorites are the ones from the 50s with Edmund O'Brian as Dollar. I also love "Broadway is My Beat".

"Broadway is My Beat"

ROAR!

Got killed by an enemy wizard's fireball today, which happened to interact with his reviving phoenix magic and revive me on the following turn (after the same effect revived that bastard twice) and then got to the wizard... He tried to run away toward a nearby water-filled channel, but I run after him, jumped on him, and grappled him! And then we immediately sank because I failed following Swim check. I tore him to pieces on the next round, proceeded to swim out of water while carrying remains of his corpse in my teeth while being stabbed by two of his lizardmen minions. And then climbed the wall of the channel, still dragging the corpse in my teeth.

That was glorious day. Regretfully, the party synthesist was killed in mean time by an enemy monk, who died soon after.

It WAS a glorious day!

My dovahkiin spent Black Friday in Blackreach. I, for one, would rather be there than the stores.

I remember that one. I was maybe ten. :-)

I get my prescriptions filled at Walgreens (a really large chain store that features things besides just medicines, for those who might not know). I skipped picking up a refill today because I drove by and saw not a single parking spot and both lanes of the drive through pickup were full. I figured I could wait until tomorrow. Going in there would've made the anxiety attack I was already experiencing elevate to panic, so I just came home.

And I don't know what a dovahkiin is, either.

It's a title given to the protagonist character of Skyrim, fairly early-ish on in the game (if you actually follow the main plot instead of wandering off to do other things). It means "dragon-born" if I remember right (having not played Skyrim myself).

Thanks, Orthos. My nephew played Skyrim a little when he stayed with me a couple of years ago but I don't remember much about it (I'm not an electronic gamer at all).

This.

And Blackreach is kind of an analog to the underdark, so that tells you how I consider the prospect of being in a store on Black Friday.

What mods are you using?

And I am still stuck in Morrowwind only ever reaching that castle east of Caldera...

John is already sick of turkey. Time to break out the “turkey recipes that don’t taste like Thanksgiving” list.

Here's one for you that I came up with several years ago.

Cut the Turkey breast into cubes. Simmer in water until hot.
Simmer Alfredo sauce. Add steamed Broccoli Florettes and the Turkey.
Serve on top of Fettuccine or Penne. Top with grated or shredded Parmesan.
Serve with slices of Ciabatte or Garlic bread.
Viola, an Italian dish that uses Turkey that doesn't taste like Thanksgiving.
Enjoy.

I traditionally make turkey tetrazzine at this time, and I’ve been looking forward to it, so we’ll go with that.

That's okay. Now you have another option. :)

Yummmmmmm!

So what's wrong with the traditional stuffing, mashed potato, turkey, gravy sammich?

It tastes like Thanksgiving. See above post. :)

I'm with Treppa here.

Not saying either of you are wrong. In fact, later, my mother wants Turkey and Swiss sandwiches for dinner. I'll heat the Turkey in a skillet, then let the Swiss melt on top of the Turkey. I even bought Lettuce, tomato, and onion. Should I toast the bread, or no?

I just bought my 1/2 priced turkey. After that sucker thaws it’s Thanksgiving on Sunday!

2 people marked this as a favorite.

I was thinking of buying one and just stewing the whole damned thing.

If you like turkey they’re like 1/2 off. A lot of the fixings are too, at least around here. I got the pumpkin pie filling for .99

After I cook this guy off he’ll be made into soup. Literally as soon as I carve the breasts out in the pot he goes.

I just realized I forgot the pie shell. Oh well, I’ll have to look into making one by hand.

Captain yesterday's crust.

2 sticks of butter
2 cups of flour
Cold, cold water (about a third a cup)
1 teaspoon of salt
1 tablespoon of sugar.

Cut up butter into tiny pieces, dump in the flour and s%$%, incorporate it with the butter, slowly add the cold, cold water until it turns into dough, store it in the fridge or roll it out right away, it makes no difference.

You're welcome.

Easy peasy if you follow directions well.

I’m all about the directions. In baking you can get away with fudging a bit, but it’s not usually a good idea. Minor variance can make major differences

Always toast the bread. :-)

This view may make me unpopular but... That is too much turkey.
