I feel like I have to apologize whenever I trap somebody in a black soul gem. I try to reserve that fate for necromancers and the like. Random soldiers don't deserve that fate.
It's weird-- I have a really hard time being evil in video games, but in pen & paper RPGs, it's always been maybe a little too easy.

You just play like you are in 1st Edition AD & D. Loot, pillage, and plunder EVERYTHING!!!

Ethics? What is that? Good is just a word!

It's like they say-- the end justifies the mean.

Next thought: The Monkey's version of Z-Day. The iconic PbP by our old comrade Kruelaid will not be coming back any time soon, so I am seriously pondering moving forward with my own take on it. Anyone interested in a zombie apocalypse scenario from Day Zero?

Maybe? I was pretty intimidated by the level of gameplay and narration in Z-Day.

Left my garbage soup on overnight and topped it with Parmesan this morning. Breakfast of champions!

Speaking of soup- I need to get my turkey carcass boiling this afternoon

I don't think I'll ever be able to recapture the magic of the original , but I would love to try.

I used to follow Z-Day and Appalachee Jihad simply for my own reading pleasure. :)

What ever happened to Kruelaid?

Yes I am interested.

Wedding was awesome!

Freehold took a picture if us under the entrance to the "Normandy" ballroom (even though that wasn't the one we were using) for important geek reasons.

Everyone had a great time, I think.

Tomorrow we are off to Puerto Rico! (For about 4 days)

Have fun on your honeymoon!

A honeymoon, too? Then it'll be Christmas, I suppose. When does it end? When does it end, CH? When do you get back to what's important in life: pbps?

In other news, after two full weeks (at least) wrestling with the beast, I may have fixed my computer. A fresh Win 10 install didn't fix my total system freeze, nor did updating my BIOS, nor did updating drivers, nor did shutting off many startup services, nor did finding a driver utility and updating nine MORE drivers, nor did installing motherboard and case utilities to check fan function and clocking and temperature, nor did rehoming my core files from F: back to C:, nor did changing the properties of failing exes to admin or compatibility mode.

What fixed it? Going to BIOS, configuring the "ECO" settings (power savings), and disabling something called C6.

That was so obvious. Why didn't I see it sooner?

My machine ran for FOUR HOURS STRAIGHT after that change. And when it used to lock up and require a power-off after 15 minutes, four hours is a beautiful thing. I also played Skyrim and Oblivion for longer than 10 minutes, formerly impossible. Maybe it's fixed. Fingers crossed.

I am never going to build off an MSI mobo/AMD CPU combo again.

LOL,

Takes all kind to be evil! ;P

Actually, I recently (within the last year or 2) read a fantasy novel where GOOD had actually won. "Villains by Necessity" by Eve Forward The BBEG was running for it's life, and evil was getting harder and harder to find. The problem was, Good was TOO good. The light was getting brighter, nights were getting brighter and shorter, etc, and eventually the world was going to literally burn up from the excess of goodness and light. Enter a band of 5 of the last remaining villains. They form a group and go on a classic adventure to end the reign of good before the world is destroyed. :)

Blurb for the book-

Spoiler:

With the banishment of Evil from the realms, the final victory of Good is assured-unless a few stalwart antiheroes can save the world from a serious and potentially fatal imbalance. First novelist Forward explores the complications that arise from a surfeit of "goodness" in the world. The result is a skewed version of the epic fantasy that features an assassin, a thief, an evil sorceress, a dark knight, and an implacable druid as the villains-turned-heroes who must restore the delicate balance of opposing forces before their world disappears in a blinding flash of Goodness and Light. -- Library Journal

It was both a fun read, and an interesting take on 'what IS good/evil'? As the group of Villains proved that you do not have to be 'nice' to do good, and sometimes you have to be bad to do the right thing. The 'good' guys were the quintessential uber-paladin-type. Who were so focused on stopping 'evil' that they literally could not see that the world was being destroyed around them. And quite clever and witty writing too. Not too shabby for a first-novel.
(IMHO of course)

ARGH! NOW I have to go find the book on my over-crowded bookshelves and read it again! (Like I don't have enough to do!) ;P

Silver Crusade

I don't really care for evil campaigns, or evil characters... but all my characters usually end up being evil...

I am only slightly less hung over than I was earlier.

I hope you took the day off.

Hey! A 'Murderhobo' is NOT evil! It is a job description! We provide a valuable service!

Can you imagine how out-of-control all of those fantasy world humanoids and undead and monstrous etc would be if not for us?

Think about it! Every time you turn a corner there are more! The friggin things are like rabbits! What would the (fantasy) world(s) do without us?!?!? ;)

Shadow Lodge

Of course, the only reason fantasy worlds have so many of those is so murderhobos have something to kill, so...

It's like a bloody chicken vs egg problem.

The Exchange

Have you or a loved one been: injured by the failure of adventurers to eliminate security threats in your area...?

...denied proper compensation for eliminating said security threats in your city...?

...forced to pay improper taxes or fines failing to consider your profession into account?

The law-firm of Tazou, Tazou, Tazou, and Karasuma are here to help YOU attain the justice you seek! With a convenient office economically shared with the Gennei Feather-Dying Institute in the Puddles, we're here to help YOU. Fly on by today!

No, most of my characters are evil with a capital E.

He might revive his game, so I don't want to presume to do his. Plus he had that whole Lovecraftian angle that I have no idea where that was going. I just figured I would run with the concept and start from the beginning

I actually prefer the Moorcockian 'law vs chaos' axiom. Either can be good or evil, the best thing is a balance.

Granted, he's been saying that for five or six years, so I think it's safe to say that it's dead in the water by this point. I want to see how that story ends, but other than that, I'm not a huge fan of zombies.

i want to see that story end too, but.... idk it's like having a 'guest writer' work on a sequel. It's never right.
