I'm currently looking for equipment ideas for a bodyguard character beyond the typical basics. (Must be PFS legal.)

The breakdown:

Tactician Figher 5/Student of War 2
Notable feats: Bodyguard, Saving Shield, Step Up, Combat Reflexes, Combat Expertise
Traits: Helpful

Basic bodyguard equipment already on hand:
Benevolent armor enchantment
Sword and board
Reach weapon
Cloak of Resistance, Ring of Prot, etc (the general basics for most characters)

Items being considered:
Gamin, The Misforged/Reforged
Scabbard of Vigor

The character concept is more utility-based and defensive, not really looking for damage front-loading. Yes, I'm aware this concept is "unpopular". I have plenty of other damage dealing characters and it gets boring.

If they're in to saving lives then a couple potions of CLW are a necessity. Either shard gel or caltrop beads are handy for slowing down the enemy.

How much, roughly, do you have left to spend?

I'm not necessarily looking for immediate purchases, more building a shopping list and ideas for things that are more interesting than the typical fare. Ideally things that would be affordable through level 11 or so (not too concerned about purchases after hitting 12).

Some other examples of things I've come across to add to the list:
Bodyguard utility:
Ring of Tactical Precision
Feather Step Slippers

General utility:
Ring of Eloquence
Rallying armor enchantment

There is a paladin archetype that cuts damage from attacks in half but i dont remember what its called and you probably dont have the charisma for it either. Look at an honor guard cavalier of the dragon order, honor guard is an archetype.

I have a similar character, and I suggest a mithral/darkwood buckler for use with the reach weapon but i dont remember if saving shield applies with a buckler.

BTW are you a halfling?

My character is a dex based halfling witha shortsword and heavy shield. I'll dig him out when i get home

Human. When I was doing the initial groundwork research for the character, I did have a couple of cavalier options worked out. I opted for a less direct way about it for a little "outside the box" challenge. I also ruled out Golden Legionnaire and Steel Falcon because I was going with Sovereign Court, which is Taldor. At this point likely just going to finish out through level 12 with just Student of War. I'm mainly crowdsourcing for interesting magic items.

Saving Shield does apply, but I'm likely going to retrain it for In Harm's Way. It was pointed out to me that Saving Shield can slow things down with the use of my immediate action. It was useful at early levels, at least.

Sovereign Court

Looks like you have pretty much all the Aid improving equipment (minus Gloves of Arcane Striking, which this build can't benefit from as is).

There are a number of new teamwork feats relying on aiding another:

Harrying Partners - Each of your Aids to AC last until your next turn instead of just one attack.

Got Your Back - Whenever you aid an ally's AC against an opponent, they are not flanked or flat-footed by that opponent til your next turn.

Open Up - When you aid an ally's attack, that attack also ignores physical shield bonuses to AC (but not the spell). If you also have Harrying Partners above, all of that ally's attacks against that opponent before your next turn also ignore the shield.

Between Tactician and the Ring of Tactical Precision, using these feats should be easier for you than most.

Fantastic. I was going to be reviewing recently released teamwork feats on my own (a much...much shorter list to review than equipment). Harrying Partners is likely to win out at this point. I'm also going to double check the new race guide for anything else enticing.

And yes, the Aid Another items are covered. The next step of interest are items that might benefit others, such as Gamin (Allying) or the Rallying enchantment. While the Ring of Eloquence largely benefits myself, it also contributes to party success outside of combat.
