I would love to have the whole list of the 29 entries' names, if at all possible.
I find that the mere name of a monster can fire up the imagination.
As per the contest rules, we're only allowed to post statistics about the entries that didn't make the top 6. Some contestants may want to get their monsters published elsewhere, so we're protecting their IP.
That said, the authors themselves should feel free to post their monsters here or elsewhere.

I understand perfectly. I will post mine after the voting ends :-)

And to those of you who aren't contestants, please feel free to leave comments on the monsters and/or here. You're free to advocate for your favorites and give the designers feedback.
Well then, I'll totally shill for the Anomiak Protean!
The Protean is insanely cool, and has a great thematic role, muddling with language to mess with legalists and devil contracts and verbal communication. I like how the glossolalia power doesn't try to re-invent any wheels and just goes straight to the fumbletongue spell for it's effects.
It perversely feels like the most thematically appropriate sort of thing, tying the protean into devil-opposition, and yet also the most 'out of the box' of the six top entries. Sort of a 'I never knew I needed this!' situation, where I would never have thought of it, but now that it's here, I feel like it totally belongs.
The warpwave thing is perhaps my only quibble. I think I'd prefer if the effect didn't happen at all when it erased mundane writing, and triggered a level-dependent sort of backlash when erasing magical writing, perhaps using the primal magic events table as a guideline (since those are CR based, IIRC), or something similar, more like a 'failed to read a scroll' event than something that could be wildly too big for the room after erasing a CL 1 scroll of mage armor or something. But that's a pretty minor issue.

While you certainly don't have to, you guys are free to share who you're voting for, and say why. Encourage your friends to vote. Remember any constructive feedback -- good or bad -- helps the designers and everyone else who reads it who may learn from it (including me).
The tally is close enough that anyone could win still, so please feel free to let others know about the contest (on your FB page, maybe) and encourage them to vote too!

I got awesomely relevant comments from both Jacob and Mikko by asking them by PM.
I very strongly advise any contender not in the successful six to ask them for their feedback, as it is quite worthwhile.
Also we would not want them to succumb to boredom before the voting ends ;-)
No chance of me getting bored here--I'm writing a 10k+ words freelance project... But yes, feel free to ask for feedback, everyone!

I've not spoken with Mikko yet, but Jacob blew me away with his insight! Awesome stuff!
So, while we're talking about it...
*PM being written*

In case anyone is interested - here is my entry: the Devil Spirit.

I am looking at the Anomiak protean, Hellhorn, & Headless Devil (Gannceann). I value originality, playability & (player) memorability and I think these three do that best. The visuals on the hellhorn and headless make the points in those categories, but the anomiak gets the points in visuals & abilities. Hence my vote. :)

Daggummit! I really, really need to write some PMs! Thank you both, Mikko and Jacob! Awesome, awesome stuff! I'm not ignoring you, I'm just kind of super-busy right now and am running out of time for thoughtful stuff. Sorry! But "Thanks, and that's awesome!" is the basic response that works for the moment...

Winner revealed! Thanks to everyone who voted, and congratulations to our winner!!!
If time allows, Here Be Monsters will be back next year; meanwhile, stay tuned for the open call for Villain Codex 3!

Congrats, Gabriel, and -- one last time -- everyone else.
Thanks all for your participation. This is as much fun for us judges as it hopefully is for you, and we couldn't do it without you! (Well, I guess I could make a bunch of monsters myself and send them to Mikko and Mike, but that sounds like a lot more work than I want to do.)

WOO~! Good job! I voted for you~!
That said, it was a hard choice, because everyone of the top six had so many amazing ideas! Great job, everyone that entered, and everyone that got in the top six, and Grabriel who won!
(And is it just me, or is that name super-ironic and/or suspicious as someone who "won" by creating a foe of Hell... hmmmm...)
;D

Awesome!
Thanks everyone! And great work, fellow finalists! Some of these critters will have to make an appearance in my next campaign.

We do work in mysterious ways...

Just a heads up, I'll have to do some writing on a project and make preparations for the big reveal and such, so it might take me a few days until I have the time to send feedback on the monsters. But probably this coming weekend I'll have a bit more time!
I'm hoping that when time permits that you, Mike, and the other judges can PM me feedback regarding my monster, much like you guys did last year. I'd like to know where I fell short.
