Mercenaries kill people for money.

a.k.a., sell-sword ...

Freelancers fall under "adventurer" or "murder hobo" depending on their lodging of preference. *grin*

Saw Doctor Strange a couple of evenings ago.
With regard to some of the weird large circular things in Dormammu's realm, I assumed that some of them were entire planets that he'd sucked into it (or maybe what was left of them, after he'd finished with them).

I found the visual effects (even in the 2D viewing I went to) very impressive in some of the 'mirror dimension' parts.

I'm not that familiar with the original series, so deviations from canon mostly went past me, and didn't effect me one way or another.

I would have liked maybe another scene or two with Doctor Strange and Karl Mordo - maybe them having a meal one night, during the training in Nepal (?) and discussing philosophy, or something to develop more what kind of relationship and respect (and the differences between them) if any that they have for one another.

Grrr. I didn't check reviews beforehand sufficiently enough, and missed the second scene in the credits. I was expecting maybe something, and saw the one with Thor, but didn't know to wait for the very end where there'd be another one...

There is always a 2nd in Marvel movies these days. Always.

I usually stay until the "Will Return" screen.

Now that Ive seen it...

How would one go about making an Ancient One character?
Thinking monk for certain, other than that. Add in a spontaneous arcane caster?

You might be able to do it as a pure quinggong monk.

Was the Ancient One in the movie that different from the comics?

I mean, Sorcerer Supreme and all?

Sorceror supreme yes, but a woman of celtic descent, not an old nepalese man...

That I knew (though not the celtic bit).

Just seemed odd to me that they were trying to stat her as a monk (maybe with some caster).

D&D classes aren't the best to define the Sorcerer Supreme of the Marvel Universe. It's more like an archmage of the Akashic Brotherhood from "Mage: The Ascension", really.
If I were to stat a Sorcerer Supreme I would go with wizard (because they learn spells and their magic is mostly not innate) possibly giving them a few levels of monk as well (because of martial arts obviously). Edit: and of course, tiers of archmage as well.
