Occultist equipment

Advice

Need help finding good occultist feats. Also what is the best armor and weapon for occultists?

Thanks.

Other than Extra Focus, it really depends on what sort of character you are going for.

I'm want it to be a front line fighter. So transmutation implement.

Sovereign Court

If you're going front line fighter and aren't needing a lot of spells (especially if you're going Trans), I recommend the Battle Host archetype for starters.

Silver Crusade

I like the Extra Focus Power and Expanded Arcana feats for Occultist but YMMV.

Extra Mental Focus is good too.

Whoa, you can take Expanded Arcana as an Occultist? I mean by RAW you obviously can, but it never really occurred to me. Hmm… Now I have to consider that next level over Extra Mental Focus.

Scarab Sages

I'm actually in the process of writing an Occultist guide, so I've been looking at them a lot recently.

As a melee occultist, spells are not really a huge priority for you, so I would focus more on combat feats. Toughness can help shore up your d8 hit die, which is nice. Many people say that any melee combatant will need power attack, but speaking from experience, 3/4 BAB classes have trouble hitting anyway, and adding penalties to hit can be bad. If you do go power attack, I also recommend furious focus in order to mitigate the penalty (as. 3/4 class, your itteratives will rarely hit anyway.)

Expanded arcana isn't something I considered, and I don't know how it would interact with the school/implement side of things. I guess we'll have to wait for the erratta.

One thing to keep in mind: the class may have a printing error. Because of some wording, only spells you choose may be considered 'on your spell list.' It is an issue in a poorly-worded section of the book, but GMs may stick to it. Paizo hasn't weighed in on it yet, so be prepared for that.

As for equipment, I am fond of mithral breastplates, as they allow for the most protection while still allowing a 30ft move speed. I also opted for a single weapon and a shield, as you don't need your hands free to cast a spell (unless you are a reliquarian) and you need the AC.

Hope that helps!
