Help with character build please.

Advice

I have gotten into pathfinder and need to build a character before I play again but don't really know how to do it all I know is that I want to be a half Orc barbarian but don't really know much else other than his name which will be Erak Stormfell and that I want him to be huge for a half Orc. Would some one please help me? I also do have the core rule book if that helps so you can refrence pages that I can flip to.

Start at the front of the book. Go to Generating a Character on page 14. Follow the steps there.

Thank you. It is appreciated.

What are the abilities they talk about are those like dexterity amor class and health?

Dexterity is one of the ability scores. Try page 15.

Armour Class (AC) is how hard it is to hit you. It is calculated at the end of creation with the formula 10 + dexterity modifier + armour bonus + shield bonus + any other bonuses. Worry about that at the end.

Health is how hard it is to kill you. Every time you take damage you subtract it from your health. At 0 you're unconscious and at -12ish you're dead. A first level barbarian will have health equal to 12 + constitution modifier.

It can also help to print out a character sheet and fill it in as you go.

Ok then thank you I saw page 15 almost right after I said that and saw them but your feed back is still very helpful.

You're very welcome. Post any other questions.

qouting from the book on page 25 for the Half Orc
Orc Blood: Half Orcs count as both humans and orcs for any effects related to race. End quote
Does this mean that I have to take into consideration the Orc page and the human page for my character or would I just focus on the half Orc?
Also do any religions ever have an effect on things about your character other than what morals that they have then.

You don't get the racial bonuses for half orc or human. There are certain feats and abilities that require you to be an orc or a human to use them.

Unless you're a cleric, if you're just using the core rulebook then religions do not affect your stats.

Ok thank you again that was confusing me and I'm sorry if my question take awhile to come I am trying to not completely be dependent on others but still thank you.

It's fine. I have to go to sleep, but I can answer more questions tomorrow.

Ok thank you if it works I will be on around five pm my time I live in MN so if u are in the same time zone no probes but if you are in a different one you will know which time zone to go off of I was thinking that was when I would finish my character because I think I was going to go to bed also.

If you are on I'm sorry that I want correct on time for when I was back on but the racial traits still confuse me do I get the racial traits of the half or right away or do I have to use fears to get them.

It's weird but there are 2 types of racial traits. Ones that are from your race and ones that are from another thing called traits. The first one you start out with as your race has them. The second you can choose as part of 2 starting traits.

I hope i didn't confuse you more, I'm not the best at explaining things.

In the core rule book on page 25 for half Orc at the bottom of the page it has a box with some stats in it titled Half-Orc Racial Traits I was wondering if I get those ones as soon as I start the character or if I have to use feats to get those traits.

You automatically get all of those racial traits, as well as anything listed in your class description for your level (and all previous levels).

Your skills and feat are on top of all that.

Also, your thread is in the wrong forum, which may explain why people aren't seeing it.

There's nothing you can do about that, but I've flagged it - the forum's moderators can move it once they check.

Ohhhh thank you that helps a lot thank you so much I have been stuck on this part of the process for awhile thank you for clearing that up.

If you came from the other one I posted in I hope I didn't sound like a jerk in that post. I'm sorry if I did I wasn't trying to sound like one. And thank you for telling me that it was in the wrong forum place.

Well, I only saw it because of that. They might get on you for not linking it - I'll put a link there.

Thank you again I'm sorry for not doing these things.

You might want to take a look at the beginner rules before you jump into a full time Pathfinder campaign. Or better yet, the Pathfinder Strategy Guide seems built to help new players like yourself. Might be worth the investment to help you understand how to plot the course of your character advancement over time.

Good luck and be nice to your dice.

Grand Lodge

I'm fairly new to the society myself. What I did was figure out what I wanted to do. Then looked at the races. Since you want big half orc, that part is solved. Now what do you want to do? I'm guessing bash something meaty and make it paste. In the half orc pages you saw your yellowish box, gave you your Stat plus and minus, all your racial traits, bonus feats, skills, languages. Read thru the skills and feats, see what you like and start to build a progression tree, maybe look at other classes to see will balance you out to get your end goal.

Hope this helped, that is how I started my warpriest, that gets to start January 7th.

Liberty's Edge

If you want to be a fairly large sized Half-Orc you might ask the GM to let you change your characters Size to Large instead of Medium

However that might be a bit much

Radiant Oath

Good feats for starting half-orcs are Power Attack, Cleave, and Step Up. I play a half-orc fighter and those are game changers, especially starting out. Since you're a barbarian, armor is an issue anyway, so skip the shield and get a two-handed great axe or sword. That increases your damage a lot, especially if using Power Attack.

Hi my DM is wanting to do the Technology campaign and I was wanting to do a gunslinger/hunter build. What I want to do essentially is be a hunter that had an animal companion, but also focuses on using ranged attacks like a futuristic gun, with a splash of magic. Does anyone know exactly how this would work? Or if it would even be possible?

Try the trophy hunter ranger. Does everything you just said.
