Are darts ammunition or weapons?

Ricochet Toss from the Weapon Master's Handbook says the following: This ability does not allow bullets, thrown ammunition such as darts or shuriken, or thrown splash weapons to return to you.

Since when were darts considered ammunition? I thought they were considered thrown weapons, like daggers or chakram. Or was this meant to refer to BLOWGUN darts?

It's probably a mistake because someone conflated blowgun darts with regular darts.

Blowgun darts are ammunition and therefore destroyed on impact, just like shuriken. That whole sentence seems to be all about "destroyed on impact" weapons.

Dart = simple weapon.
Atlatl Dart = ammunition.
Blowgun Dart = ammunition.

I wish darts were ammo. I would be more inclined to bring them occasionally. The only times I do is if I have Quickdraw.
