I know how this spell works, and let's stay away from overpowered or not, but how does someone get away from this?

It's sunder to break it, which is CMB vs the CMD of the caster? Is that correct?

Or can the target move more than 20 feet away and the spell would be cancelled?

The target can simply walk away out of the maximum distance of the spell and it ends. That's what keeps the spell from being over powered.

Either of those options work. Although if you work together with a grappler or combat maneuver specialist, this spell can really shine.

Yes, but someone focused in grappling doesn't really need the assist either. They're likely built well enough that they have effectively disabled their opponent anyways since casting spells would be incredibly difficult and you can't use two handed weapons. There just isn't much a grappled person can do (to the overall flow of the fight).

If someone is capable of pinning an enemy in place they probably don't need someone to cast limp lash to help them. Just my opinion though.

I don't like the spell. Either the enemy is too stupid to realize what you're doing and you simply paralyze them in a few rounds (most creatures have at least 1 bad physical score), or they're smart enough to realize what you're doing and simply move away.

It's a suck version of save-or-die spells.

I believe you can also end the spell by causing the caster to release the whip with a disarm maneuver, stun effect, or the like.

As for the usefulness of the spell, just wait for the magus who uses Spell Blending to cast Limp Lash and Close Range to deliver it with an actual whip - with the anchoring enchantment. You wanted to move away? Yeah, about that...
