6-98 and 6-99 question

prepping to run these today and had a question come up that Ive not had before with these 2 - and Ive run them both at least twice before

doubling up on pregens

in Serpents Rise I would absolutely say no due to the way the scenario is written and and the story behind it

but True dragons is a bit different and TECHICNACLY I could see it as possible ... my Gut says no ... but there is some logicality to it

I don't recall any specific prohibitions, but it has been clarified that you CANNOT run a 7 player table of these scenarios. As such, I would say no doubling of pregens, especially in 6-98.

ya I hadn't seen the clarification part but that's the way Ive been running it as is

like I said I could see 6-99 being able to without breaking things Too badly ... but 6-98 would truly destroy the story

I am running multiple Serpents Rise tables at Aethercon and will be limiting it to no more than one of each pregen at the table.

Though logic is not a typical point-of-proof for a lot of Pathfinder Society stuff, let's just consider for a second:

If all 6 players wanted to play the same character, you are essentially saying 'you must print 36 pregens'. Oh, and the Alchemist has two pages, so 42 pages of printed material.

I strongly recommend against running duplicates of a particular pregenerated character during these adventures. I'm not strictly prohibiting it because I'm trusting a many-star GM to judge whether having a duplicate PC would be the right choice for whatever reason.

As you noted, #6–98 relies very heavily on the story elements, skill sets, and faction missions of the first four characters, and the magus and brawler are still very valuable contributors to the story. #6–99 is less dependent on exactly which pregens the players choose, but they're also designed in such a way as to allow each one special time in the spotlight. Doubling up means having to split that spotlight time and possibly lacking a key skill.

John's post does not allow 7 player tables. He only talks about multiples of the same pregen. You do not need 7 players for that.

John doesn't condradict her post. He is talking about running duplicates, regardless of number of players, whereas Tonya is talking about party size.

EDIT: Freakin ninjas are everywhere.
