Wow. And they're close to their initial goal with 29 days to go. I really enjoyed the new MST3K that had been on Netflix, and hope this is successful. I haven't backed a Kickstarter in ages, I'll have to think about what I might toss in. The only concern I have is this is pretty ambitious since they are trying to get a whole web-based (with possible app support) service going and that can invite loads of technical issues, but I also would think this team would do the research to be sure it worked right.

Very tempting, though I don't know if I can justify a monthly subscription for an MST3K-only service.
Reading through the description, it sounds like they are attempting a combo streaming/exclusive live event/specials and livewatches that would have various levels of interactivity. The pitch includes examples of the kinds of events they are hosting in addition to episodes of MST3K. As Joel Hodgson states, "I really want The Gizmoplex to feel like something new: less like another Netflix with nothing but MST, and more like a charming, off the radar, suburban cineplex that plays movies for 99 cents, long after their first run."
I wish they would describe a little more explicitly how it works, but reading between the lines, with their calling it a monthly pass and how the reward tiers are working, it seems like you may actually be able to subscribe for limited amounts of time (technically this is true for all streaming services, but they make money because they auto charge you monthly and you have to actually think to cancel your sub). It looks like you could buy a one month or three month pass, etc. if you don't want an ongoing sub. I could be reading into this, mind, but this is what it seems to be. Which may be friendlier to folks' budgets.
I respect if you can't afford a monthly streaming service, this is not an option for you, but noting to others here that the $35 backer tier comes with a 3 month pass to the service, which would be more than enough to catch the new episodes as well as all of the other events they are planning to show.
