As the title says, which deity or faith do you think you would worship or belong to if you lived in Golarion and why?
For me, I feel like I would worship either Erastil or Torag, mostly because I've always felt a strong sense of community with those around me and have always felt a need to help protect them.

Probably Pharasma. I've always found the thought of dying someday to be somewhat comforting; I guess since it means an end to any suffering I'll be in at the time. At the very least I'd be respectful and grateful for the fact that someone neutral and relatively benign was in charge of the whole process.

Though to give to the spirit of this thread if I were a worshipping type I'd probably worship Irori: dude achieved godhood through sheer mental badassery. I don't know if I'd want to be a god myself, but I really have to give props to a guy who did it that way.
My more destructive side would probably include Nethys and Urgathoa for similar reasons. Urgathoa most especially: she escaped from death. I admire escaping a lot.
In contrast I might a little opposed to all the Starstone ascenders: if you need a magical crutch to be a god that makes you kind of lame. Except Cayden Calean: being drunk at the time more than cancels that lameness out.

Pharasma most likely. Her faith honestly doesn't have that many rules and I'd rather have the judge of the dead be my patron than any of the other gods. Plus undead creep me the hell out.
If not her, probably Desna or Cayden Caliean. I dig their areas of concern and Elysium sounds like the best plane to end up in for the afterlife.

Of my favorites, Desna and Erastil are both pretty laid-back, in different ways, and seem less unpredictable and dangerous than, say, Gozreh or Nethys, who I'm also fond of, and not quite as violently jihadist as Sarenrae can be.
Since I'm not fond of what happens to atheists in Golarion, I'd probably go with Desna. Cayden's also great, but I hate beer. :)
Other than Desna, Calistria's got a pretty happening afterlife going on, although I'm not sure I'd want to be surrounded by fellow worshippers to whom 'petty and vindictive' is an actual tenet of faith.

Great topic!
I've always thought of myself as neutral good in real life. But like SilvercatMoonpaw, I don't worship any god in this world, so why would I in another? Yes, they're clearly real on that world, but there are so many to choose from, and devout worship really isn't mandatory.
So I'd probably be respectful of the good gods, maybe leaning towards Desna, Shelyn, and Sarenrae the most, but I can't see myself as a devout worshiper.

I think the "I don't believe in a god in this world" argument doesn't hold true on Golarion, where gods are existent and provable.
Urgathoa.
I like to try new things. I enjoy things that are enjoyable- -food, sex, leisure. I dislike being sick. I enjoy stable relationships and hate it when others judge me.
Worshipping Urgathoa is like simultaneously worshipping Desna and Calistria, only with a bit of stability and significantly less backstabbing.

There's a difference between not believing in a god and not worshiping a god. Of course, most people won't worship something they don't believe exists, but even if it did exist, it doesn't necessarily follow that they'll worship it.
I would probably not devote myself to a particular deity, but instead probably pray opportunistically to deities whose portfolios deal with my current issue. Which I honestly suspect many inhabitants of Golarion do...it's not like today's monotheistic religions where they don't acknowledge the existence of other deities. Dedicating yourself to a particular deity is likely for those who feel a strong affinity for said deity or their precepts, or for those who grew up in an area dominated by the faith of one particular deity. So I suppose I should also take into account where on Golarion I was living...

Difficult question. As an atheist, it gets even harder.
My first thought is Sarenrae, but I am not that harsh NOR that nurturing.
Cayden? Nah, never even had an interest in drinking.
Desna? Such a beautiful idea, but I am not big on wandering and traveling, nor would I ever be a bard.
Shelyn? Sure, but again, I am no artist.
Calistria? Not really. Lust is all well and good, but sheesh, devoting yourself to someone who is the very definition of emotionally dysfunctional?
Then it starts getting difficult, even more so. I look through the various celestial lords, demigods, but no.
And I realize, that I would eventually probably accept my fate as an atheist. Perhaps even with some hint of pride.

Shelyn - I love me some love!! I'm no artist though so I'd have to focus on the other aspects of worship.
Now in game Desna, Sarenrae and Gorum have been some favorites of mine. Too bad our party has an inquisition on us from a few of these. Not through our own fault though..."It couldn't have happened any other way!"

Nethys. Besides my obvious love of all things magic I can really relate to the contrary dualism he embodies. I also appreciate his lack of (moral) concern. Finally, I can admire a God who ascended from the lowly roots of mortality through an epic feat of spellcraft.
I would consider him an example worthy of my devotion, even if he wouldn't care.
Despite my direct worship of Nethys I think I would still acknowledge and offer prayers to other gods depending on the situation. I see no conflict in that.

There was a thread that pretty much asked the same thing just a little while ago...
Anyway my answer did not change...
Calistria. Mostly I like her individualistic approach to life. Pretty much be who you are and damn what other think is how I live my life anyway. Also I like wasps...and never been stung by one...and they seem to like me.

Shelyn more then likely. I am an artist. I do tend toward NG. Or at least doing what I feel is right, in the moment. I like sharing and helping others get better at artwork if I can. And as a um...not good looking fellow when my ego is being honest I can appreciate inner beauty in others over the outer stuff.

Oh, boy... I'd probably be a filthy polytheist.
Sarenrae because I do have a strong belief in altruism and forgiveness.
Desna because good dreams are a rare and wonderful treat for me. Good luck never hurt, either.
Shelyn because...
Writers need all the help they can get.
And probably... Pharasma to tie it all together. It's just impossible to ignore her.

Can... can I choose one of the hero deities that have ascended in my games? Or do I have to stick to those who are currently ascended?
(It would very likely be Erastil or Sarenrae, if the latter, though there are such an enormous number of awesome Empyreal lords, it'd be really hard to pick for sure...)
Of course, I'd also be looking to become a god.

Hmmn. I doubt I'd be content with a single patron, but there are some alignment conflicts with my preferred deities, to wit: Asmodeus and Pharasma. Guess I could swing it if I were neutral/evil or lawful/neutral, but I'm pretty sure I fall into the lawful/evil corner. Pharasma for comfort, Asmodeus for power.
