Mount another´s eidolon

Advice

Sovereign Court

So... we are about to start a new campaign and my brother wants to make a summoner. We started to joke about i riding his (quadruped) eidolon and both atacking at the same time.
Is that posible? can i ride it? which class is better for doing that? Cavalier or maybe Fighter?
Any advice?
And what if the quadruped eidolon is like a centaur with a humanoid upper boddy? can i ride it?

Not unless it has the Mount evolution.

But keep in mind that the Eidolon is a sentient creature that won't respond blindly the way a mount would. It will go and do what it pleases, taking orders only from it's master.

Sovereign Court

Ok but if the master agrees with my orders?
Obviously he is taking the mount evolution

Keep in mind that the mount does not get any of your cavalier bonded mount bonuses. The rest is for your GM to adjudicate.

Okey thanks man!

Honestly stealing an eidolon/hunter's companion is usually a straight upgrade from the normal cavalier mount.

You'll want to work closely with your brother, building a trio of characters (summoner, cavalier, eidolon) that have a great rapport. Mutual respect and aligned goals will ensure that things go over smoothly for both you and the DM.

Don't forget that you'll need to play as a small sized race to ride the mount from level 1; eidolons cannot get the size boosting evolution until their master hits level 8. If you go the later route, keep an eye on Unchained Summoner evolution points. Lunge saves you a reach evolution and evolution surge can cover situational things like flight.

Fighter can brute force some strong numbers with weapon training and weapon specialization, and have the feats to get you going early on. Dragoon archetype works well with this.

Cavalier has challenge for some truly stupid numbers when you really need it, and eidolons can share those tasty teamwork feats. Your animal companion can act, ironically enough, as a mount to help the summoner keep within 100 range of the eidolon tether.

Mounted Fury Barbarians get a special mention for adding movement speed to the mount, along with a rage power that lets you share rage with the mount.

It is possible.

Best class = Sohei Monk

If human, grab Mounted Skirmisher at 1st level, Ride-by-Attack at 2nd level.

Monastic Mount, gained at 4th level, is broken when applied to an eidolon.

We are starting level 3 so i created multiclassed gnome with 1 level dragoon fighter, 2 level Mounted fury barbarian (only to enrage both me and the eidolon)
So far he has:
Mounted combat (Dragoon)
Skill focus: ride (Dragoon)
Ride by attack
Spirit charge
Fury, shared with the eidolon (Barbarian)
10 extra movement speed for the eidolon (Barbarian)
The eidolon is something like a centaur, with a lance, 3 natural atacks and pounce
May this work?
I think next levels ill go with the dragoon and maybe spend 1 feat in extra rage turns.
Can i make more than one attack if the eidolon punces?

If your mount has pounce, you still get just one attack as the rider. Keep in mind that Rules As Written, the rider is the only one who multiplies their lance damage on a mounted charge. If your DM rules in favor of the Eidolon multiplying its own lance damage, then I feel sorry for whatever you face in combat.

Build looks good so far. I'm guessing by the Eidolon's loadout you're playing the APG version. That's going to work wonders for you.

Don't forget that mixing manufactured weapons with natural attacks makesthem all secondary natural attacks. That -5 penalty and half strength mod to damage will cut into your pouncing until the eidolon gets Multiattack for free when it's master hits level 9. You're almost better just focusing on high strength and solid weapon attacks til then.

Consider the Escape Route teamwork feat somewhere down the road. It's amazing if both the mount and rider have it.

Sovereign Court

Ok thank you!
