First Level Wizard, Second Level Character

Rules Questions

So, I'm sure this has been asked and answered but I can't find it. Hopefully you folks can help.

I'm looking into playing a fighter/wizard, first fighter then wizard. So, I'm curious how does it work when he becomes a wizard, in terms of the arcane bond and the spellbook? Does the character immediately gain a spellbook with the normal amount of spells, as a first level character/wizard would get? Does he gain an arcane focus/masterwork item?

Thanks in advance for the help guys.

Yes, he gains both a spellbook and (assuming he takes a bonded item) a masterwork bonded item as part of completing his Wizard training.

I feel like some RP would explain this pretty easily.

Make sure to note to the GM and other players that your Fighter won't be spending the evening getting drunk in the tavern, but rather will be spending time in the library researching stories of others with arcane abilities. Show extra interest in any scrolls or wands you find on your adventures.

Also, by the time you've reached second level, you've more than likely come across a Masterwork weapon or item. Who's to say that wasn't your Arcane Bond in the first place?

Work it out with the GM and maybe something can be put into the campaign to help it along.

Alternatively, maybe start as a Wizard at level 1 and decide you wanna kick some ass with a sword and some armor at level 2.

Thanks for the confirmation guys.

J-ko... I considered it, but as a dwarf, being a fighter seemed to make more sense at first.
