Monk artifacer thingy

Advice

So I am going to gm of some friends and I have an issue. One of them wants to be a martial artist, so monk right? he also says he wants to be a half robot steam punk cyborg thing. My campaign is steam punk themed so that's alright with me. Now here is where my problem is, he says he wants to make modifications to him self, like arm mounted weapons and other construct modifications. Does anyone know of a good class or race or something to do this with? I was thinking maybe using the permanence spell but I'm not sure.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

You could let him take the master craftsman feat but let it work for craft construct.

Master Craftsman feat.

Then he can make things like; Clockwork Prosthesis.

Edit; Oh, and he could try the android race, just more steam punky... or a wyrwood.

Golemoid from thunderscape setting is exactly what you describe.

Oh I didn't know these existed, this is exactly what I'm looking for, thanks a bunch!

Clockwork monk for the win.

Silver Crusade

I have a character very much like this (but not to that extent) in a game I'm playing in at home. He's a monk with a robotic arm and the GM is thinking of tossing fun little attachments for it to me every few levels. Currently I have a kind of door-buster attachment for SWAT-like entrances that can also be triggered a certain times per day as per the spell Force Punch 5 times a day (adding to the damage and effects from whatever my punching is doing). I've used it for all kinds of things not involving doors so far. I'm currently taking ranks in Craft:Cybertech to create my own modifications to it and to repair it if need-be. We will use the rules listed here if I decide I want to upgrade myself with more robotic parts. In fact, that page has pre-written rules for much of what you described the player wants to do.

However, for flavor, you might want to consider taking a page from Shadowrun (which my GM is doing). The more heavily the body becomes modified, the harder it is for the body to create and/or store Ki. Him and I haven't talked about to what extent or when it would start happening, but I'm sure he and I will have that conversation if/when I decide I want to go down that route with my character.
