Pummeling Style Critical

Rules Questions

Does anyone know why the d20pfsrd doesn't show the Pummeling Style critical effect anymore. Was there an FAQ or Errata question???? (Every style feat I use for my monk are changing GAAAAAAAAAAAAH)

Liberty's Edge

Yes, there was a massive errata for the ACG. Pummeling style was reworded, removing the critical part.

Yes, the change is from the ACG Errata. Note that they were finally applied to the PRD as of Sept. 30, 2015

I am assuming people felt like it was over powered?

It was one of the biggest pieces of contention about that feat after the (reasonably) vague wording that all.... 'some people'... to try to argue that it allows the use of it with any weapon (because punching with greatswords, appearantly).

The critical bit just got weird as you got more attacks. It was not unreasonable to have your entire full attack crit 52% of the time by level 12. And it gets worse from there. It particularly riled me up when people tried to allow weapons that were base 20/x2 with it. If you used it TWF kukris, it would eventually get possible to crit 94% of the time with your whole full attack.

As I've heard it said before- if you can cut a feat into parts, and still have it be desirable, then it had balance issues. The feat without the critical bit is still on par with cluster shot, and it is a prereq for a pseudo pounce. So it is already in the realm of 'solving a ton of the problems with unarmed strikes'. It is still one of the most optimal styles.

Scarab Sages

I was sad to see the critical part go. Unarmed needs something to make up for the worst crit profile in the game. That said, it's still a good feat without it, and I admit that the crits could be overwhelming once you go to very high levels with multiple attacks form flurry/TWF.
