5 Star Eval Scenario

Grand Lodge 5/5

1 person marked this as FAQ candidate. 3 people marked this as a favorite.

I am rapidly approaching my 5th Star Evaluation. I am looking for a game to run that is a blast. As an example, when I ran my 100th table, I ran Dawn of The Scarlet Sun, and me and my players couldn't stop laughing. I would like a 3-7 or 5-9 that is reasonably fast and a bunch of fun to play. Anyone have any idea what I should prep?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

The Haunting of Hinojai, The Immortal Conundrum, Rebel's Ransom, The Sanos Abduction, The Traitor's Lodge, Port Godless, and Valley of the Veiled Flame (in no particular order) are my favorites in that range. Congrats on getting the 5th soon.

Shadow Lodge 4/5

I'd second Traitor's Lodge and Port Godless, and add Weapon in the Rift.

All three of those have a good mixture of RP, Skills, and Combat (which is great for showing off your GMing chops), they also provide plenty of room for extra embellishment.

Lantern Lodge 5/5

If you're looking for one in those tiers that's reasonably fast (I assume to give plenty of time to embellish?) look at Fabric of Reality or Way of the Kirin.

Or, to make grand spectacle, You Have What You Hold. Bonus points if you can do a good Howard Cosell voice.

Blackros Matrimony is one of my favourite 3-7's.

Its not in the range you specified, but if you want to showcase your improv skills as a GM, run the Disappeared!

My 5-star was Empyreal Enlightenment. I think it was a great happenstance (it was an open gaming slot!)

I like Golden Serpent in your requested range for room to embellish and do interesting things. It's less rich than some others, but better than the overloaded RP of Immortal Conundrum.

Sewer Dragons of Absalom is particularly relevant as a gateway to five star these days....

You Only Die Twice, when I played it, was a real romp. But that may have been the party make-up affecting things.

I'll second Rebel's Ransom, Traitor's Lodge, Weapon in the Rift.

The Slave Master's Mirror would be an awesome 150 table as well!

Ok next time I want to hear YOUR Cosell voice!

My 150th was Glass River Rescue. Personally, I think its more about it being a table you know you'll enjoy opposed to anything else.

While all of the listed scenarios may be good, make sure your choice is something you have fun running, even if its something youve run a half dozen times already.

And congratulations!

Run Sewer Dragons of Absalom. Then, when you get your 5th star, you have an awesome follow up adventure with True Dragons.

Both adventures are excellent, with well developed personalities that good GMs can use to have enormous amounts of fun. If you made people laugh during the deathtrap that is Dawn of the Scarlet Sun, then these two adventures should be a cinch for you to make enjoyable.

Lots of good scenarios mentioned here. Let me throw The Ghenett Manor Gauntlet in for a interesting adventure that plays fast with the removal of faction missions. Just beware that some players might be out of the game for awhile if the rest of the party is impatient. ;)

Season 4, in general, is pretty outstanding; Green Market is one of my favorites.

Or Mean Gene Okerlund.

Disregard the FAQ request. It was a mistouch.

I'll add my vote to the Immortal Conundrum. It's got all the RP of Blackros Matrimony without the minigame, and some memorable combats in the 2nd half.

Lantern Lodge 5/5

As an alternate idea:

Pick whichever scenario is most recently released before your game- -and turn it into one that your players call their favorite.

Grand Lodge 5/5

I wanted to update. Sorry for the delay, but about a month and a half ago I did my 5 star eval, and it went very well.

I chose the Immortal Conundrum; Somewhat on the advice here, somewhat due to ability to be run easily (It hadn't been run much here, and was pleased to have such a wonderful scenario setup for roleplay.)

Thank you all for your wonderful advice.

Congratulations! Sounds fun. I plan on burning a GM star to replay Immortal Conundrum on my investigator for

the question about military experience. "I led the Taldan Army of Exploration in the Worldwound. Yes, I have military experience!
Besides, I don't remember much of the combat, since the first time I played there was a pouncing eidelon in the party.
