Awakening animals and give them PC class levels, what would you do?

I was talking to my brother the other day, about what sort of silliness or effective things one could make, if casting awaken on animals and give them class levels.

For example; an assassin thrush.

Any sort of animal and 6 class levels to distribute in any combination.

I'd like to know what creative things the community can come up with?

Give them druid levels so they too can awaken an animal eventually, and then those animals can do the same and it will form a chain of awakened animal druids that will do your druidic bidding.

Those are, from one point in the conversation, almost my brother's exact words.

They have to import an elemental cart from Eberron. The Dog has the Cowardly trait. And I think the Shark, if I recall, was a bard, instead.

Anyway, to imitate more stuff, awaken a tiger. He becomes a bard who specializes in Acrobatics, Athletics, and Oratory for inspiring speeches and selling things.

For a Monty Python, there's always grabbing a moose and making them an alchemist with a mutagen that makes them more human-like.

Or, if you're into web comics, you could make a reincarnated druid archetype camel. Heh: "Shupid".

Get a few sharks and make them all urban barbarians.

Two gunslinger or cavalier cats with high technology focus.

Four awakened turtles and one rat with ninja levels.

A ton of bears, a bunch of fur-dice, some tattoo materials, and cleric levels. All of them are good, and they focus on their channel abilities.

Tattooed horses.

Hedgehog with access to constant haste.

Monk levels to a panda, tiger, snake, monkey, crane, and (though it's a vermin) a mantis.

EDIT: More added; this will happen periodically.

So, looking at animals.

Less "referential" ideas:

A peacock bard. Focuses on dazzling display-type spells and performances.

A skunk that is either ninja or alchemist (or, maybe, slayer?) would be pretty... intense. These should work rather well for the right snake, too - maybe even better, if you focus on a range of movement types.

A murder of crows could be a really... impressive thing, depending on how you'd rule it.

An axebeak is actually really hardcore already - granting it something like barbarian levels would make it literally a killer.

A weasel as a grapple-focused monk emphasizing keeping hold could be moderately devastating, despite its size disadvantage. Crocodile would be better, but its slow enough that I'm not sure.

A roc caster focusing on long-range and self-buff spells would be a powerhouse to be reckoned with.

A parrot bard would have... strong infiltration and subtlety potential, while being loud and raucous at the same time.

EDIT: Oh, yeah, an elephant arcanist with a familiar.

Ah, they're not anthropomorphic yet.

They'd have to dabble in craft 'wondrous contraptions' too.

Make them function like ratfolk rogues, i imagine. Save a 10x10ft instead of 5x5ft.

A hamster with lvls in ranger and barbarian. He prefers called shots to the eyes.
It's obvious what i'd dub it. :)

Octopus with Brawler (strangler ) levels/ tetori monk.

awakened animals are generally NPCs that act as hirelings or henchmen, sometimes cohorts.

Anything that fits thematically with your world and/or can get a good laugh. Remember that these critters are generally not all that bright having a solid 10.5 average on INT, WIS & CHA. So typically they'll go in for non-min-maxed classes like Barbarian, Bard, Rogue, etc. Lacking hands will be an issue with weapons or casting spells.

Some oddities...
Snake Runecaster (uses its body/trails to make the runes).
Orangutan or Lemur Arcanist.
Mole Alchemist.
Oak Oracle.
Vulture Ninja.
Cat Kineticist (shadow or something...).
Silvanshee Cavalier (I'll leave the mount to your imagination...).

A hermit crab Binder.

An amoeba Warlock (good luck figuring out what's generating those Eldritch Blasts and invocations - or killing it!).

I'm missing a lot! I'm just referencing the first three books (and the main characters from them), however.

This is a far more comprehensive look (well, this) than I could give in a short post!

(If you meant Luke - or any of the "D"-named mice -, while awesome, his name doesn't match the scheme; and if you meant Martin II, I barely recall Pearls of Lutra, unfortunately, and he was a minor character, at most, in Matimeo. If you meant Mariel, I don't believe she ever carried the sword - that was Dandin, while Mariel used her patented Gullwhacker, i.e. that great knotted rope she woke up with. I'm not really sure who else you might mean... care to enlighten?)

And I think the Shark, if I recall, was a bard, instead.Jabberjaw

Anyway, to imitate more stuff, awaken a tiger. He becomes a bard who specializes in Acrobatics, Athletics, and Oratory for inspiring speeches and selling things. Tony is grrrreat~! Insert other cereal mascots here.

For a Monty Python, there's always grabbing a moose and making them an alchemist with a mutagen that makes them more human-like. It's weak, but the moose referenced in Quest for the Holy Grail as part of the opening credits

Or, if you're into web comics, you could make a reincarnated druid archetype camel. Heh: "Shupid". Sluggy Freelance, specifically Zoe and her camel curse.

Get a few sharks and make them all urban barbarians. the Street Sharks

Two gunslinger or cavalier cats with high technology focus. SWAT Kats! Woo![/ooc]

Four awakened turtles and one rat with ninja levels. I really shouldn't have to, but just in case

A ton of bears, a bunch of fur-dice, some tattoo materials, and cleric levels. All of them are good, and they focus on their channel abilities. I don't know what I meant by "fur-dice" - that might have been an autocorrect problem - but Care Bears and their Stare; I think, maybe, either "fur domain" or or "love domain" or "friendship domain" or something; I don't know though.

Tattooed horses. C'mon: even if you're not into it (like me*), you've gotta know it.

* Due to lack of time and lack of access, not lack of interest, though.

Hedgehog with access to constant haste. Sonic is the fastest thing alive. Except for Mario (according to Game Theorists).[/url]

Monk levels to a panda, tiger, snake, monkey, crane, and (though it's a vermin) a mantis. [ooc]Kung Fu Panda is an amazing film series and you should all watch it.

Unless requested otherwise, I'll probably leave the references that others have made to them (I don't know them all, anyway).

?!? -_- ?!?

Go through the list of nicknames for "Michael," and surely you'll get it.

... Mickey. Got it.

That said, he's not a Paladin. He's either a bard, inquisitive, ranger (with animal companion!), or rogue (possibly an alchemist, fighter, gunslinger, or slayer, but he seems too skill-focused/not combat-focused-enough* for those). Either that, or he's a heavy contender for the power of retraining.

Regardless of his alignment (which has changed over the years), he's never once, to my recollection, exhibited anything paladin-like except (possibly) a tendency to censor stuff (depending on your interpretation). He has been definitively seen: lying, cheating, acting dishonorably, disrespecting authority (though it could be argued to be illegitimate, he's generally depicted as a rebel); he has punished those who harmed or threatened innocents (consistently) and rendered help to those in need... though there are often chaotic ends at work. Given the in-universe(s) elements, he definitely allies with and spends time with those who offend his moral code (though he doesn't like it), and I don't recall him ever seeking atonement (though I seem to recall he's broken an agreement or two with said folks, as they were going to double-cross him). Of course, that could be why we don't see him do paladin things, but that's just my take.

... which is why it took me so long to get the connection!

(Though I can understand the conflation with Paladin-hood.) :D

* Though he occasionally appears as a boxer, a gunslinger, or soldier, those roles can generally be ascribed to "decent" stats, and careful feat selection; while gunslinger is considered necessary for successful gunslinging, I contend that I don't actually recall Mickey ever successfully killing anyone or anything with a gun... though I could be wrong. After all, everyone rolls natural 20s sometimes.

Make a crow, name him Jim. Have Jim be uncomfortable around other crows because they're not enlightened like him. Enjoy watching the rest of the table squirm whenever Jim talks about other crows.

First off, before you cast the spell make sure you borrow your friend's rod of metamagic maximize. Then be sure to choose an animal who has all the right parts to use somatic components (I like bears.) Then make that animal a wizard.
