Well that solves that.

Rules Questions

Defiant weapon

This special ability can only be placed on melee weapons. Adefiant weapon helps its wielder stay alive in desperate conditions. It stays in its wielder’s hand even if she is panicked, stunned, or unconscious

Looks like you drop your weapons under slumber. If you don't want that...it's a plus 2 enhancement.

There. The nightmares over.

Except sleep doesn't apply the Unconscious condition as defined in the game. And now all you've done is reopen this can of worms.

Quote:
Unconscious: Unconscious creatures are knocked out and helpless. Unconsciousness can result from having negative hit points (but not more than the creature's Constitution score), or from nonlethal damage in excess of current hit points.

So basically, only hit point damage can cause the Unconscious condition.

Nope. Just click-bait, no resolution at all.

In addition to what Melkiador said (you know, game rules and such), being "asleep" is very much NOT the same as being "unconscious". Sleeping people often wake up from little more than a pin-prick or a loud noise. Unconscious people do NOT wake up from open heart surgery and military grade explosions.

See this.

Wait.

Maybe you DID solve it. Since Sleep is not listed under the benefits of Defiant Weapon, that clearly means you DO NOT drop weapons when you're asleep.

Thanks, Cavall, for ending this debate even though it ended the opposite of the way you planned.

This does bring something up to look out for. If a FAQ comes out that says sleeping causes you to drop your weapons, then defiant won't help, because Sleeping isn't listed as one of the prevented conditions.

Well, then we could always spend another 5 years asking them to FAQ/Errata that, too.

I didn't realize this issue has been kicking around for so long. Though threads about it seem to get locked for some reason.
