This thread is awesome. It went from legal details to gun rights to rebellion vs terrorism to the history of naval warfare, while staying reasonably civil and extremely informative the entire time.

I wish I had more to contribute, but definitely dotting. :)

I forget which admiral it was, but I was reading one of the Japanese Admiral's diaries from the war and he talked about when he knew the war was lost. He was looking overhead at the US planes in the sky and comparing it to battle reports of how many planes were shot down. Either the US had 3 times the number of carriers he knew about, or he could not trust a single intelligence report he was getting. Either way, he knew Japan had lost.

There's a similar quote in the European theater from Goering, if I remember it right. He and another general looked up and saw the first P-51's over Berlin. The realization that fighter escorts could reach all the way there led Goering to turn towards the person next to him and say "It's over. We've lost."

Yeah, any life-long quaker will want a railgun, or at least a rocket-launcher.

To get this back onto topic sounds like Kim Davis has violated the judges orders

She's apparently now modifying the license forms further than the previously granted alteration

Quote:
The changes Davis made, Hughes said, include deleting her name, all mention of Rowan County, and references to deputy clerks. Only Mason's name is on the form, not his title, with a place for him to initial rather than to use his signature.

I'm shocked! Shocked I say!

Why, it's almost like it was never about HER 'conscience' at all, and really all about denying these people their rights. Who could have ever seen that coming?
