Question: Summon Nature's Ally from hiding - can the caster be seen?

Rules Questions

Simple question:

If a caster casts a summon spell (such as summon nature's ally) from a hiding spot, will they still be seen? Do the sniping rules apply, or what?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

"Sniping

If you've already successfully used Stealth at least 10 feet from your target, you can make one ranged attack and then immediately use Stealth again. You take a –20 penalty on your Stealth check to maintain your obscured location."

Sniping only applies if you make one ranged attack, not if you cast a spell.

"A verbal component is a spoken incantation. To provide a verbal component, you must be able to speak in a strong voice. A silence spell or a gag spoils the incantation (and thus the spell). A spellcaster who has been deafened has a 20% chance of spoiling any spell with a verbal component that he tries to cast."

This will make it difficult to be sneaky while casting most spells.
