Just beause it's named an "Adventure Card Game" doesn't mean it uses the same game mechanics.

I can't really imagine a Warhammer game being cooperative, anyway.

Actually looking at the game page, it definitely seems veeeery similar to PACG. Not enough to be any legal issues though.

Reading about it on BGG after the earlier post that mentioned it, I can tell you it is fairly different:

  • No character decks
  • No splitting the party (all characters are always in the same room)
  • Encountering monsters isn't a one-and-done deal. Multiple members will engage with monsters across multiple turns.
  • Quests have fail states that allow the overall game to continue, but differently than if you had succeeded
  • The game is 5 quests, with no expansions adding to that (yet). If they do add to that, it is unknown if they will allow you to carry your character from the first 5 quests or if you have to start a new character.
  • A play session will be more like an abstraction a crawl through rooms of a dungeon than the more zoomed out abstraction of PACG.
  • There is a mechanic where the characters can go to town between quests, most likely to upgrade weapons and such.

It is an interesting looking game, but I think it will scratch a slightly different itch than PACG. I'm going to keep an eye on it, but FF games don't tend to be as successful with my group (except for Citadels and Cosmic Encounter) so I'm waiting to see some reviews and maybe some play videos before getting too excited for it.

Sounds like a mix between PACG and Shadowrun Crossfire (a game I highly recommend)

Sound like Descent Adventure Card Game - DACG.

Sovereign Court

Yea that's actually a much a better description.

Which makes sense; Warhammer Quest (the 90s game) is an adventure-through-the-dungeon game like HeroQuest, Descent, and such.

Back to the threads topic...

Mike is now editing 1.4

I am sure that by now developing the fourth installment, he already had a new idea(s) how to improve PACGs core mechanics yet...

Altering the core mechanic would lead 2 2.0, right?

Sovereign Court

Only if it's massively changed. Again, the fact that you consider Mummy's Mask to be 1.4 indicates that how versioning actually works, and how you believe it works, are two very different things.

Myfly, I have worked with Germans in the past. ( Your Navy actually) Love them as generous and honestly forthright people.

I have to tell you that you are coming across as boorish way too often. It's a second language thing to a degree, but Americans are much more literal and less inclined to find this sort of humour funny than a Brit or Aussie would. I've lived and worked in the states for a total of 12 years of my life, trust me on this.

I know you're joking, but you're rubbing people the wrong way sir!

Something it's not.

Hopefully, the last post did everything right... And brings a little smile to your face.

Doing jokes in a foreign language is quite difficult...

I really thought about a nice way to say this, but since english is a second language for me too (maybe I should just do this in German instead), I didn't find one: Maybe your just not that funny...

Considering that Mike's last two posts are not positive and in fact the more you push this subject, the more it is pissing people off.
