I always find myself wondering about masks (and this doesn't specifically apply to anything in RPG superstar, but also things found in the various rulebooks): does anyone actually have their characters going around wearing these things?
The weird thing is the number of masks I've seen that get sucked into your face. I mean, it's two, and one of them was culled, but it's odd. And also sort of creepy.

There was actually a whole series of fantasy books about masks that you wear but are absorbed into your face that give you the powers of the gods. It was pretty good and also a while back so I doubt that anyone is copying anything but the trope is definitely out there.

There was actually a whole series of fantasy books about masks that you wear but are absorbed into your face that give you the powers of the gods. I means, just look at the typical users of these masks.
I'm seeing a lot of creates darkness but you can see through it. Reminds me a lot of makes you blind but you can see.
I think the idea is that it makes everyone else blind, actually. ;P

I'm not a huge fan of the absorbed-style mask, but for some masks (especially social ones), it feels somewhat necessary. Like, how does that stone-face mask work against anyone with even a smattering of Knowledge? Especially against PCs.

The one that makes you "invisible"? Pretty sure it's mentioned in game that it doesn't actually make you invisible, just "very plain". Their eyes just gloss over the wearer- they see them, certainly, but they're so forgettable that the wearer is immediately disregarded.

True but plunging yourself into darkness should blind you and yet it doesn't...and how have you voted so much already. I've been on vacation and voting every time I'm at a computer and still haven't quite cracked dedicated.

Another theme: you get/kidnap a swarm
I love swarms and wish there were more player options to utilize them. That said, none of the ones I've seen in the competition really stand out to me.

I have already started writing next year's item. It is covered in the blood of an orphan named Rune Filigree.You would think with all the jokes about it, the filigree would stop. But no. Everything is still covered in filigree. When it's not filigree, it's runes. When it's not runes, it's the blood of an orphan.
I'm going to make a cursed item where anything it touches is infected and begins growing filigree on any available surface, including people.
"Someone cast remove curse, quickly! She's caught the filigree!"

I still can't even with these back stories. And all these items are so weathered and worn in... What if I use the construction requirements to craft a new one? Do I have to scrape it on the ground to fit the elaborate description?
