Where can I find details about it?

News seems hard to come by.

Awhile back Paizo wrote about it in the Paizo blog.

Obsidian is the company behind it. If you search the forum for that name you'll see some mentions.

There is a forum here.

Thank you, was hoping there was some news at gencon, or even gamescon.

Not hard to come by at all!

Here's one article and here's one with a video and here's someone doing a walkthrough, all from Gen Con.

Loved the video snippets? Want to play the game now!!!
Looks reasonably complete.
I wonder if Obsidian are letting perfection get in the way of possible?
As long as you have Rise of the runelords base and AD1 complete get it one sale, you can fix bugs develop additional sets later

Man, those videos look awesome. I wasn't expecting all that extra art and story and interaction. The notifications on who might be able to help with a check are nice too. I'm really looking forward to this.

Awesome vids! I can't wait. And as someone who has very little experience with the RPG, i will also add: Hooray for extra story!

FYI, if you'll be at PAX, we'll have some digital-version stuff available to see.

As somebody who has been play testing the heck out of this, I can tell you it isn't ready for prime time yet. The core box scenarios are pretty good in terms of bugs, though we keep stumbling on some. It is super frustrating when you know that you should be able to win the scenario and you don't because of a bug. Trust me. :)

I got through Skinsaw Murders once and Nathan (the lead designer) was floored. He hadn't been able to do that yet without the game crashing. Turns out, he was right. I haven't been able to do that again.

So while the game is coming along rapidly and the gameplay is really fun, this isn't anywhere ready for prime time yet. It isn't the quest for perfection.

How about an exclusive physical promo card when buying the digital version? Submit serial number of the software to paizo to get a special promo?

Release date is SOON.
Does it mean 2015 or 2016?

As someone who plays the digital MTG games and follows forums on them, and has participated in their take on giving promo packs to digital buyers, most customers hated this. And that was when you didn't even have to have the game to get the cards, they just had special artwork for them.

Just cause it says PACG doesn't mean it needs a promo card Myfly.

OK I'm far from being as knowledgeable as Hawk or Vic concerning cards but I've been in the top computer business for 38 years so I feel comfortable on this one:

SOON means exactly the same thing as EVENTUALY and can be sumarized as "project not cancelled yet as far as we can tell".

Sadly, this is a very accurate statement.

There used to be a CM in the LOTRO forums named Sapience. He created this entire spiel concerning the word SOON. It is well worth the read.

SOON:
Please keep in mind; the measurements below are highly accurate (as are their relationships to each other). However, the descriptions are for entertainment purposes only. Unless you win money, then you owe me 10%.

NOW!

Never gonna happen!

At some point in the future (also; At some point)

We’re in pure Nostradamus territory here. We have a magic 8 ball and even it said, “Ask again later”.

In the future

This isn’t going to happen during any variety of soon you care to use. In fact, it’s pretty far out there. Not as far as ‘at some point’, but we’re certainly not suggesting you book vacation time just yet. We’re probably talking about something that is possible within the current time line. Assuming, of course, the Mayans, Vikings, and 47 other random stone carvings were wrong and we’re still here after all that crazy ‘end of the world’ stuff.

In the near future

This is absolutely, positively, without question, a possibility. In fact, it might even be a real possibility. But as to when, we’ll have to get back to you on that one.

Soon™

No lie. It’s going to happen. It’s going to happen really freakin’, like, eventually. But it will happen!

“Soon”

It’s official! We have given consideration to a possible date and we now have several possibilities!

Soon

We’ve narrowed the date down to something within the calendar year!

soon

No really, we have a date now! It’s even penciled in on a calendar somewhere!

MoreSoonerish

We have a date, and we’re probably going to tell you what that date is…soon!

Incredisoon

OK! We’re done messin’ around. We have a date, we’ve found the calendar we wrote it on, and we are going to tell you. Like right freakin’ shortly! Seriously!

Tomorrowish-esque™

This is going to happen within the next 24 hours. Give or take some random number of hours which may or may not exceed an amount equal to the number of miles between the reader and the International Date Line divided by 163.97241. Unless the person is actually standing on the International Date Line at the time of reading, in which case the world will end in a cataclysmic divide by zero error and none of this will matter anyway. This is all barring any conflicts with ‘The Schedule’, of course.

As soon as possible

Time being the slippery thing it is, this has quite probably already happened. If not, it is very likely to happen while someone is typing up the message telling you when it will happen. Assuming, that it is in fact possible.

Modifiers, adjustments, and other fun stuff.

Capitalization

As a general rule, capitalization will tip you off as to a measurement’s place in time. Capital letters denote a longer period of time than lower case letters. This applies to all uses of capitalization when dealing with time. Thus Soon is longer than soon. Likewise, MoreSoonerish, Moresoonerish, and moresoonerish are all incremetally shorter periods from longest to shortest.

TM and its uses;

The notorious ™ has very specific meanings. It denotes a longer period of time than the word or phrase would otherwise represent without the addition of the ™.

“Quotes"

The use of quotes, like the use of TM and Capitalization has specific meaning. It is another measure of extending the noted period of time. Though it denotes a shorter extension than either ™ or Capitalization.

Combined notation

When you see a combination of modifiers (™, quotes, and capitalization) you must consider the impact of all modifiers on the base measurement. The more modifiers, the larger the expansion of time from the base measurement.

Addendum A: Spooky Stuff

It’s on schedule

This relates exclusively to a highly theoretical method of calculating time commonly referred to as, ‘The Schedule’. The Schedule is part of an emerging understanding of time called Quantum Sapience Time. Schedule Time has the amazing ability to exist, not exist, and potentially exist or not exist all at the same instant. It is only the act of observing The Schedule that forces it into a fixed state in which the normal rules of Sapience Time apply. This is commonly called “entanglement”. Entangling one’s self with The Schedule is a very risky proposition as it can lead to temporal disorientation. Especially as it does not require one to be in any physical proximity to The Schedule. Albert Einstein himself referred to this as “Spooky action at a distance.”

Addendum B: Backward Causality:

We told you so

Any attempt to look back upon or view the flow of Sapience Time from a future point will amplify and enhance the predictive and pre-deterministic nature of soon. The effect of this observance is to reveal the perfect accuracy of all predictions within the fabric of the Sapience Time Continuum. In short, the act of releasing content will cause the time line to become self-evident and clearly predictive of the exact moment in the future at which the release will happen when viewed from that future.

Sentinels of the Multiverse introduced also a physical promo card when going digital. Just a idea of mine..... Dont know the background info why they did it... But it was and is successfull.... Why not copying this strategy?

They also intoduced a bookmark with advertisement of the digital version besides the promo card....

Step 1: make it work.
Step 2: make it work on Windows, the only potential platform I'd use.
Step 3: worry about promo items.

I may have inserted a step. ;-)

I think the proper release date would be "two weeks".

Why not copy that strategy?

  • Because it would seriously annoy a large number of customers who have the physical product, but have absolutely no interest in a digital product.
  • Because if you want a promo card to encourage purchase of a digital version of the game, there's no need to make it a physical card; you can have a digital promo card built in to the game.

If there was a promo card. How would you get 5 of them though?

As you know, the game is super complex. There are bugs that only show up in particular scenarios with certain players against particular villains. All those powers can be pretty complex at times. They are making huge steps forward all the time, but every great product takes time to make.

How about a promo card for finding out bugs in the game?
How about we get a promo card for posting in response to this thread?
How about a promo card for READING this thread or the PAIZO blog?
How about a promo card every day of the week?
How about a promo card every minute of everyday?

Just a suggestion.

It does get a little repetitive that it's really getting on a lot of people's nerve in the messageboards. However we can't be mean because technically it's not wrong to do so. So am I at least allowed to be passive aggressive?

How about a downvote feature? to auto hide a comment if it reaches a certain downvote threshold. I don't want it to turn out like reddit, but somehow I am interested in figuring out how to mute/block someone.

In my experience, passive aggression isn't really any more productive than openly being mean.

Personally, I'd suggest just ignoring people whose comments don't tickle your fancy or share your tastes in message board topics. Paizo.com is a broad church.

If you're looking for an ignore feature, there is this (but I think it depends on your browser or something..)

Yes they did; here (Posted by Nathan 31 March 2015 - 08:12 AM)

So, unless a delay is officially announced, ETA is still 2015.

I think instead of a physical promo I would much rather that they add (Free) unlockable content to the game itself. Today there are so many digital games that don't offer you much(or sometimes anything) for completion because the company would rather sell you extra content. My wish would be in game incentive to replay the game multiple times, perhaps the unlocking of a random class deck character when you complete the full game( If they let us unlock say,4, there would still be plenty to sell to us later), or when you complete the game you unlock the Iconic Hero owner cards for the characters you were playing. It's just my opinion, but I don't need physical incentive to buy the game, I'd be looking more for incentive to replay the game.

Not a bad idea sir

Being a developer myself, you generally want to take what development says about release dates with a grain of salt. We all tend to think that our code will be perfect (or at least good enough) the first time, and also have a tendency to underestimate the amount of effort it takes to do something (We also have a tendency to downplay the severity of bugs in our code). Unless we get something official that says 2015, I wouldn't take a post by a developer as gospel truth, at least not on timelines.

Thanks Troy : ). I was even thinking maybe set challenges with rewards, like finish the game with Valeros and Ezren to unlock Flenta, or play through with Kyra and Seoni to unlock Zarlova.

I would normally agree with you but you also need to consider:

- this is already a revised date (I read somewhere it was scheduled for early 2015 initially)
- this info is coming from the LEAD designer, which is probably one of the most knowledgeable person about the current status of this project.

I have my own doubts on the release date but nevertheless, this is the latest update mentionning an ETA that went public afaik.

Except that several company reps told several people at Gen Con (including me) that they could not give a firmer date than "soon", and could not even narrow it down to a couple of quarters (I asked).

Considering we're almost finished the 3rd quarter, if they cannot narrow it down to a couple of quarters at this point, it's extremely unlikely to be this year.

Pathfinder Adventure Card Game: Rise of the Runelords – Base Set Coming Fall

When we spoke to the Obsidian Team at PAX and learned that the game has a rough release date, Fall 2015! From one of the games developers I was told "soon" with a wink, so who knows!

I'm also curious to know of a price point.

I'm sure it'll be well under the price of the tabletop version. If I were a betting man, I'd say somewhere between $9.99-$19.99 for the base set and AD1 (hopefully not just the Black Fang adventure) .. and somewhere between $5.99-$9.99 for the adventure decks.

I suppose if it was just the starter Black Fang adventure I could see $9.99, but that's not really much game to play with three scenarios.

Hopefully it's not just iOS out of the gate, I don't feel like buying an iPad just to play it. :)

Sovereign Court

I'm expecting $20 minimum for the base set. Probably 30. $10 for single adventures.

I don't see any reason they'd split the B adventure and Adventure 1, as opposed to keeping them one product like the physical version.

I thought I had seen somewhere it was Android and iOS at release.

Grand Lodge

Over $20 would be real bad. Not that I think it deserves it, but games just don't sell for that price in the App Store.

There are lots of great articles out there that have researched into the mindset that the $.99 app has created; essentially, it's got to be a REALLY special game, likely with tons of nostalgia like a Final Fantasy, to have a chance at selling. Otherwise, most people immediately assume it's a ripoff and won't buy it.

I think Paizo and Obsidian are smart about this and won't shoot themselves in the foot. I think $10 for the base game falls in line with other high-end tabletop apps, with probably $3-5 expansions.

Sovereign Court

The theme is a bit more niche than most of the $10 apps, which is why I'm thinking $20. I could see $5 expansions though, maybe. You are probably right about something as high as $30 shooting themselves in the foot.

Are there board game translations that sell for $10+ on the Apple store? The highest I could find was $7, but I didn't spend much time searching. (In-app purchases not included.)

Windows (well, Steam) prices tend to be higher than iOS/Android when not on sale. Sentinels and Talisman ended up at $15 base and $5 for most larger expansions; I'd expect half that on mobile.

Grand Lodge

Sentinels of the Multiverse is around $10 I think. Then they did $20 for a season pass of DLC. The base game was in the $10 pack, then every expansion at the time was in the $20.
