Assumed Gear at Level 11

So I realise this is a very general question, but what kind of gear would a level 11 character be expected to have?

Wealth by Level suggests, 82,000 gp. My understanding is that PFS is very generous and a figure closer to 90,000 is more realistic?

Specifically what bonuses would you expect the following items to have at level 11 in PFS as a martial/melee;

Weapons (dual wield or 2h)
Armour
Amulet of Natural Armour
Cloak of Resistance
Ring of Protection
Belt of Stat Boosting
Headband of Stat Boosting

I expext 2's all around(maybe +3 cloak and/or weapon), a whole bunch of consumables, a 5k gp diamond and that one crazy expensive item you just had to have to complete the blither. Gloves of dueling, phylactery, a staff, vest of stable mutation, etc.

I don't have any characters at 11 or above, but I have a 10th-level melee type (with a smattering of spell-casting) who is on the cusp of 11. He has only 1 XP to go before level 11.

His list of gear might be a little unconventional for you, but here it is:


  • +1 shadow studded leather armor,
  • +1 horse bane dogslicer,
  • +1 undead bane silver flail,
  • +1 human bane ogre hook,
  • hat of disguise,
  • ring of feather falling,
  • belt of giant strength +2,

    He blew a lot of his money on the last four items, but it has been totally worth it.

    I would say that my level 13's most important purchase was two immovable rods and a hammock.

    Off the top of my head, my L12 spring attacking elven rogue has a belt of +2 Dex and Con, a headband of +2 Cha and Wis, a head slot item for a bonus to all CHA skills (+3 I think), +3 mithril chain shirt, +1 keen elven curve blade, boots of striding and springing, the +1 insight bonus to AC ioun stone, a +2 cloak of resistance, a +1 amulet of natural armor, a +1 ring of protection, a corset of the vishkanya, a vest of escape, a bottled scream, eyes of the eagle, and numerous wands that she can activate with no check due to high UMD skill. However, this is an unusual martial character.

    A Dan Bong doesn't help you unless you ignore the free hands caveat with it. It grants you the +2 to grapple, but also a -4 for not having 2 free hands for a net -2. There are a few ways to ignore the penalty now, but in general it's a negative to your grapple checks.

    It would be interesting, although time consuming, to see how much variance there is between characters of the same XP.

    Looks like two-weapon fighting isn't very popular, especially with manufactured weapons!

    Checking out Auto Bonus Progression from Pathfinder Unchained, a level 11 character would have these bonuses;

    +3 resistance (Cloak of Resistance +3)
    +2 deflection (Ring of Protection +2)
    +1 natural armour (Amulet of Natural Armour +1)
    +4 mental stat (Headband of Mental Stat +4)
    +2 physical stat (Belt of Physical Stat +2)
    +1/+1 or +2 weapon
    +2 armour

    And be gaining a +4 physical stat at level 12.

    This seems actually quite comparable to what has been outlined above, although perhaps slightly weaker in the weapon department.

    Scroll of Raise Dead--if your adventure is in a remote location, you're out of the scenario.

    Potion of Cure Blindness/Deafness--being made permanently blind mid-combat/mid-scenario is a bad thing.

    Making any assumptions about how PCs are geared leads to uncomfortable situations.

    For the "standard" gear you mention, I think the only decent assumption is that for someone whose primary action in combat is doing physical damage they can bypass DR/magic via a +1 or better weapon. Especially considering all the great alternatives in the shoulder, neck, and ring slots there are many characters that do not use the defensive items you mention.

    You put it on the party fighter who refuses to use a clear spindle ioun stone and dumped his will. It gives him +2 Vs being mind controlled by the enemy.
