What is a good second adventure path.

Pathfinder Adventure Path General Discussion

Hi!

I was wondering what is a good second adventure path to run (the first is rotrl).

I do not really like the pirates theme but serpents skull might be an option.

Any other ap's would be great. Please recommend :)

If you could reply quickly I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks!

I was thinking maybe jade regent?

Giantslayer is pretty epic.

It depends on what your group likes. Could you list off some of your favorite parts of RotR? Being in the big city of magnimar, fighting the ghouls, being in a dungeon?

If you want something that dovetails into events that happened in your ROTRL campaign, Shattered Star might work.

If you want one that seems to be popular, the difficult to get Kingmaker AP is a great one (might have to go all pdf as any copies on ebay are expensive).

Shattered star looks terribly boring
I had already tried getting kingmaker but the prices were not something I was willing to pay and I do not really like getting pdfs

Giants layer looked like a very easy campaign (for the players).

It might not be and I might look into it though.

edit: Hell's rebels looks really intriguing also .

Are you planning to run this second AP as a sequel to the events of the first one you ran? Or are you just looking for a second one to run with no concern for continuity?

Continuing might be nice I have a really nice backstory if I do continue. The character I play would be the twin of my character in rotrl.

Ah.

In that case, Jade Regent would perhaps make for a good sequel to RotRL: IIRC, that AP assumes that the events of Runelords happened already. It wouldn't be that much of a stretch to work the actions of your players into the background of that campaign.

It does not necessarily mean that it has to be though.

Shattered Star is a sequel of sorts to Rise of the Runelords and some of the other early APs.

If you're playing the same characters from the ROTRL campaign, then I'd recommend just switching to modules to continue.

I was thinking maybe hells rebels.

it's kinda hard to get a recommendation on an AP that no one has looked at yet.

If you don't mind converting it yourself (or chasing down fan-made conversions), then Curse of the Crimson Throne is an option. It has a greater urban focus than RotR (although parts 4 and 5 take place outside of Korvosa), and builds further on an almost throw-away line in RotR (what Aldern was collecting for Xanesha).

Jade is a lot of fun (my group is about to start book 6), and the beginning of the AP should be fun for a group that just wrapped up Rise. Like any APs it takes some tweaks to tailor it to your group.

I would also highly recommend Curse. Still hands down the best AP published.

I propose looking at this from a different perspective.

Most of the AP's also require you to have additional books, did you guys not recall that you need, for example, Monster Codex and NPC Codex just to run Giantslayer (not to mention the other Bestiaries)?

On that note, I recommend Carrion Crown. All you need to run it is the AP itself and Bestiary 1 and 2. Remember, this guy is coming from Runelords, thus he likely has Bestiary 1 and not much else.

Yeah, but all the other hardcover books content is available on various SRDs, so he doesn't need the books physically.

That might be true, but lots of people don't like using them when running a campaign. I know *I* don't. In fact, I can't, since I don't have access to my computer in my apt building's community room.

If we're talking Bestiaries, you can print the relevant stuff beforehand, or have a phone/tablet handy.

What´s this thread necro?
Guess the OP chose some AP already. Or not.

yeah, but the bestiaries in the PRD, while helpful, miss a lot of stuff - namely the image, which is important to describe and/or show the monster to the players if you don't have a miniature for it.

Serpent's Skull is fantastic.

*"Arise, o thread, from the depths of the forum!"*

*(Thread necromancy accomplished.)*

I know that it's most likely too late with respect to the OP, but the Curse of the Crimson Throne AP will be available in a single, updated, Pathfinder-ised edition this coming September.
