4th level talents

Ultimate Intrigue Playtest General Discussion

Scarab Sages

The Stalker, Warlock, and Zealot have too much tied to 4th level talents. Like the Investigator with Studied Combat, these classes need the signature abilities that are unlocked at 4th much sooner than then.

Stalker has to choose between the critical Up Close and Personal, the very thematic Mockingbird and Throat Jab, or a rogue talent.

Warlock has to choose between Mystic Bolts and Arcane Training.

Zealot has to choose between Divine Training, Empower Symbol, and Life Bond.

Avenger on the other hand is not locked out of their thematic choices by a level gate at 4.

We really need to put more though into the talents as a whole and allow some of these at 2, never mind the whole spells as talents debate.

The Exchange

I agree about the talents needing more depth. Each choice should be thematic and powerful. If they are not powerful then the vigilante Should get some abilities earlier. Maybe have minor and major talents. Minor could even be available in social mode.

It's kinda of a super hero thing to have lots of variety and the choice should be more on theme than power.

Or powers based on why they became a vigilante....

Are you looking for changes , new talents or something else?

The class just needs more actual abilities. There's no two ways about it.

Talents are fine, but the class and the specializations need a lot more than just 1 Talent every 2 levels to actually work.

A Talent every level would also work, but frankly I'd hate that - that's just an even lazier design than what we already have.

What the class REALLY needs, in order to not only give it functionality but also give it an actual identity that stops people from going "why not just take X" it needs to have abilities like every other class, with Talents supplementing those standard abilities.

agreed... the only talent I looked at that even screamed OP enough for the "no extra talents" rule was the level 12 "Revivifying Touch" on the Zealot... which has nothing else great to write home about.

The "social identity" really needs talents/abilities of equivalent use as you level, or at least not be unable to call upon his vigilante abilities quite as drastically... it's not like Bruce Wayne or Clark Kent never used some of their skills while they thought themselves unobserved or thought it called for... and why not allow Jekyll and Hyde alignment shift characters(in some builds).
