Advice

I'm looking for some help with a character concept I'm working on. The Race and Class don't really play into it, but he's a Gnome Wizard. He fancies himself a traveling merchant of advice. He even has a little collapsible booth that he sets up when he's ready to "sell" (kind of like Lucy's from Peanuts).

What I'm looking for are a bunch of universally helpful phrases that I could dish out at a moment's notice. Stuff like "follow your heart and you'll be happy." or "the candle that burns twice as bright burns half as long." Any contribution would be appreciated!

Silver Crusade

"And this too shall pass"

These are mostly quotes from other places, and may need some alteration to serve as advice. I left them unformatted though, since how you adjust each may change based on the situation.

From J.R.R. Tolkein's works:The road goes ever on and on...; Not all that glitters is gold, not all who wander are lost; Do not meddle in the affairs of wizards for they are subtle and quick to anger.
From Led Zeppelin songs: Many dreams come true, and some have silver linings. I live for my dream, and a pocketful of gold; I guess I've got one thing I've got to do. Ramble on.
From Oddball, from the movie Kelly's Heroes: Have a little faith; Quit making with the negative waves.
From various Pink Floyd songs: All the iron turns to rust, all the proud men turn to dust. So all things, time will mend. So this song will end; And when you lose control, you'll reap the harvest you have sown. As the fear grows, the bad blood slows and turns to stone, and it's too late to lose the weight you used to need to throw around. So have a good drown, as you go down, all alone.
From my own poetry: Be one with the darkness, but never forget the light; And if the price is just too steep, it's okay. You're just asleep; Time's a-running, and the darkness is following you, hunting. Get running;
From my grandmother: You must listen to my advice. Whether you take it or not is up to you.

That's all I've got for now. Some of them are a tad depressing - sorry for that.

Also, use your google-fu on search terms "fortune cookie" and "aphorism." If you want to inject some humor, try searching on "Confucius say."

one quote I particularly like is a Nietzsche Quote "Be careful when battling monsters lest you become one, when you gaze for too long into the abyss the abyss also gazes into you." its meant metaphorically but it could actually be used literally as well in a pathfinder Setting.

Watch "Mystery Men" and check out the character of "the Sphinx". (He can cut guns in half with his mind!). That character is so much about the aphorisms, that Ben Stiller's character calls him on it in one scene.

Seconded! I was going to post this. Aside from cutting guns in half with his mind, his main superpower is that "he's terribly mysterious".

My favorite sphinx aphorism: "Once you can balance a tack hammer on your head, then you can head off your enemy with a balanced attack!"

Keep in mind that in Golarion, a gnome's idea of good advice is probably a bit different from what most other races would think.

"You're looking for a new perspective? Have you considered standing on your head? Just until everything looks right-side up again. Doesn't take more than two, maybe three days. The best part is, when you stand up straight, everything's upside-down again!"

"You want to travel, but don't have much money? Hmm. There's always slavery, but not everyone can count on the Andorans showing up when it gets tedious. And I can't recommend the Plane of Shadow at all. Well, unless you have that kind of special interest. Wait! I know a guy who sells mushrooms real cheap! (It's because he doesn't really know anything about mushrooms.) Get the right ones and you travel without leaving home!"
