I went full paragon with some renegade tossed in here and there. Unintentionally.

New bit of gameplay footage. I dunno. Voice acting sounded kinda cardboard to me, and the dialogue had two many "the"s in it. BioWare, please don't fail us...

In the words of YouTube me: "Eeeh. Platforming was kinda weird, and was it just me, or was the voice acting kind of cardboard? They seem to be recycling a plot so old in videogames that nobody remembers where it originally came from anymore, as well. Still, we didn't get a lot of context.... but for whatever reason, the game still really reminded me of all the FPSes that Bungie has produced."

Sovereign Court

Seemed all right, but the voice acting did seem a little amateur. Heres to hoping it doesn't suck!

Sovereign Court

Yeah voice acting leaves a lot to be desired.

Did I hear Nolan North in that trailer? I always wanted to mash up Mass Effect with Uncharted and Destiny!

Yeah, Nolan North is in the trailor. I am not sure if using such a famous voice actor for this game is a good idea or not.

It makes good sense. Remember the flak they took over the lesser quality of boyshep's voice acting.

I'm not that impressed with their 4K graphics. If that's 4K I have PC games that look better than that and aren't 4K. The faces look almost like they did on the original Mass Effect games...aka...not that much of an upgrade in the graphics they have on the faces there.

They don't look that much more realistic than they did on Mass Effect.

In otherwords, why do I need a PS4 or a more powerful PC to run this game if the graphics aren't going to be all that much greater than they were for ME3?

At least from what I've seen of it thus far.

Sovereign Court

Well this is still pre-alpha footage.

I have a theory! It's a demon! A dancing demon, no, something isn't right there...

According to the alignment of the stars and the ancient prophecies of Atlantis, one day, when the galaxies are right, all other voice actors shall merge with Nolan North for those who are men, and Jennifer Hale for those who are women.

Oh man, I have such mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, more Jennifer Hale is always better. (I have surprisingly few feelings either way on Nolan North.) On the other hand, there are a lot of other actors whose voices I would be sad to see subsumed into the hive. At least Jennifer Hale can probably do flawless imitations of them anyway.

I have such mixed feelings about this whole thing, come to think about it. I found the acting/dialogue pretty stiff too, and the whole setting seemed just...generically videogame-y, which is disappointing.

Also why was there only one non-human? Grrrr. (And what was she wearing? Seriously?)

On the other hand, I still can't help getting excited about more Mass Effect aaaaaaah.

Based on some of the other early footage and screenshots, it looks like there will be both Asari and Krogans in the crew as well as humans.

Ryder is addressed as "Pathfinder"

Ugh. Kill me before this happens. Jennifer Hale is pretty good but Nolan North is the epitome of the "Boring White Bread" voice. I groan anytime I hear him in anything at this point.

He was awesome in Saint's Row 4! Nolan North as Nolan North.

And in Arkham series. His Penguin voice was great.

Something just occurred to me: after watching the E3 2016 video for the umpteenth time, I noticed that FemRyder's single line, "We made it," managed to convey so much more emotion than all of the Pro's tech demo video combined. I'm betting that Andromeda will continue the series trend of the female protagonist's voice acting being far above most everybody else's, including the male protagonist.

Last name will be Ryder so how long before

If any of your have voice acting chops, now is the time to show them off. BioWare is asking for fans to voice two minor characters. On the one hand, awesome! On the other, that confirms my suspicions that the VA division is severely underfunded currently.

Sovereign Court

IDK; I doubt getting fans into a competition and allowing them a way to be part of ME history is an indication they are looking to save on labor costs.

Why can't it be both? Maybe I'm looking into the terrible VA in the gameplay trailer too much. I dunno.

Dark Archive

I remember Battle Field 4 had fan voice actors in the campaign. Of course, they were big in the BF community. Not only that but I don't think it proves them being underfunded. Still early to judge on everything since still in pre-pre-alpha.

Yeah, you're probably right. I'm just trying to lower my expectations just in case ME: A turns into a hot mess.

EDIT: And if it doesn't, then I'll be completely blown away! Win-win!

*excited aspiring voice actor screech*

This actually isn't the first time they've found a VA through the fandom, incidentally; apparently Josephine's actress in DA:I got noticed by Bioware through her Isabela cosplay.

Bioware also ran an identical contest for Dragon Age Inquisition. While it may indicate that the department is underfunded I suspect it is just a fun contest they like to do.

Sovereign Court

Actually, Dungeons and Dragons online (DDO) had a fabulous GM voice actor for the first half of its life. They allowed Gary and Dave to do guest moderations that were a lot of fun. They couldn't hold a candle to the pro though. I also recall a very active member of the community was able to lend her voice to a quest series. She was actually pretty good if I can recall correctly.

Money, and that worries me even more for the game being worthwhile.

red bull has been a part of gaming for a long time now. From the gta days I think. They also did something with some stand up street fighter tournaments a while back. They are involved with a surprising amount of geekery.

Newest teaser from BioWare.

Ah, c'mon. Did you never dance the Shepard Shuffle :P

Shepard is AWESOME at dancing! AWESOME!

Vault Hunters? Sounds just like Borderlands. And there was even a scene of holo display of vaults across the universe, galaxy, or whatever in Borderlands 2... Maybe Borderlands took place in Andromeda thousands of years in the past and the ME came there now?

I forget where it is now but there is one spot in the three games where the dance emote actually shows Shepard busting some moves. But all the other times it's the Shepard Shuffle.

7th of November is day dedicated to Mass Effect fandom and celebration of the game. Some big Mass Effect news are supposed to pop up then.

Named after of course the N7, vocational code in the Systems Alliance military.

My memory is a bit foggy, so this might not be right, but I think the scene you're talking about is when you're hunting the Ardat Yakshi on Omega in ME2. You can sidle up to someone in the club and be all like "I'm not asking you to dance with me, but I'm gonna dance right here and you can pretend we're dancing together if you want." At which point, Secret Agent Shepard throws down some moves nobody knew he had =P

"How do you intend to get Omega back?"
"I think I'll employ violence."

re:Dancing

There is a dancing Turen in Thane's loyalty mission, but people don't get to watch him because they are on a timer. Someone ripped it and put it on Youtube

Sovereign Court

clancy brown voicing a character in ME:A?

Dark Archive Vendor - Fantasiapelit Tampere

Things are getting interesting! New trailer is here! Happy N7 day to y'all.

Also: Heh, Pathfinder.

BioWare said that they're going to be releasing more than that today. So yay!
