2015 Contest only during the Age of Destiny?

Community Use

I was looking at the Pathfinder Fiction Contest page, and it mentions "Stories will be between 3000-4000 words using existing canon concerning the Age of Destiny -3470 AR to 1 AR." but further on it says "You can enter the contest by submitting one (1) short story based on Paizo’s Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Campaign Setting, set in the world of Golarion."

I don't know what to make of this, most of the campaign settings are almost 5000 years later.

Here is the link to the contest page: http://pathfinderchronicler.net/contest-details/

Are you asking for places to find information? If so, the Pathfinderwiki has this list of various articles. You could also try contacting zuxius@pathfinderchronicler.net, and ask him.

The second quote doesn't counter the first. It's still Golarion, just well before what we're used to. I kinda wish it'd been set in the age of anguish though, writing about the Quest for the Sky would have been great.

Since there isn't much detailed canon information about that era, and probably won't be, this is a good opportunity for writers to really indulge their imaginations.

I've got the setting and premise for my story... now if I can only figure out a plot. :-/

I'm looking forward to reading all of your stories (as a guest judge again this year). :)

My advice would be to examine the expanded timeline in the Inner Sea World Guide for the Age of Destiny and look at all the happenings which were going on from -3470 AR to 1 AR. There were a lot of ancient civilizations undergoing a lot of change during that time, so there should be no shortage of material from which to draw inspiration.

I see now. Time to get the Inner Sea World Guide and start researching the Age of Destiny then!

Another useful aid would be PathfinderWiki's Timeline feature. The Inner Sea World Guide covers a bunch, but it doesn't contain information on Tian-Xia (which the wiki does).

I actually considered heading to TIan-Xia for mine, because they had some good story seeds just laying around. (The angels leave Amanandar, A volcano eruption convinces people it's a second Age of Darkness, and a few others.)

I have to go read up on my favorite long-lost civilization again...

I hope I can come up with something. ^_^
