Does jumping / leaping into / out of combat provoke aoo?

Rules Questions

I don't know why i can't find any info on this, but it has been pestering me a while.

Does jumping = regular movement when concerning moving into/out of threatened squares or is it a separate move action that just isn't listed in the AoO table?

It provokes.

The reason you haven't found text saying otherwise is because there isn't any.

You ask about moving into/out of threatened squares, which is an odd question.

You provoke with any type of movement when you leave a threatened square unless the specific action you use says otherwise. The Withdraw action, the 5' step or using Acrobatics are the most common ways to avoid provoking

You don't provoke for moving into a threatened square.

Special powers/feats may introduce exception of course.

I concur. Jumping in, no AoO. Jumping out, AoO. (I might let you jump out acrobatically, but you can't do a jumping withdrawal.)

You can't use Acrobatics to jump during a withdraw?

so in essence treat jump as regular move action (accounting for +/- for running starts and obstacles)

thanks for the info. :)

Careful... if they have reach, it provokes.

In all cases, jumping is treated like any other movement form... flying, jumping, walking, all will provoke if the conditions for AoO are met.

There are ways to avoid this, but jumping doesn't change whether or not AoO happens.
