I am wondering if unchained monks can take vows. Unchained says that they are not eligible for archetypes, but vows say that any user of ki could take them.

Vows aren't an archetype as far as I can tell, and even ninja can take vows so I think they could.

They're kind of considered archetypes, but since any class with a ki pool can take monk vows, I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work.

The Exchange

as far as I can tell the vows are not archetypes thus should be allowed besides the unchained monk needs as much ki as it can get. Now the final question is how many vows do you think you can stack

-hit FAQ for you anyway :P

Huh. I guess so. It's not a class Archetype if other classes can use it as an option.

Actually, Vows are kind of an Archetype, much in the same way Paladin Oaths are. They replace one specific class feature, as noted in the PRD.

But it doesn't work like an archetype since every ki using class can take it, even if the class lacks the still mind class feature.

Where's the rule that says non-Monks can take vows? All I see is that you have to swap out Still Mind for it, which a Ninja wouldn't have.

...Okay, apparently I read every part of the Monk Vows description other than the first sentence.
