Couple of Vital Strike questions

1. An alchemist uses Vital Strike with a thrown bomb that does 3d6. He would only get an extra 1d6 of damage from Vital Strike, right? Because the additional bomb damage is "special"?
2. An alchemist fires a bow and using Explosive missible, attaches his 3d6 damage bomb to it. Using Vital strike, what would the damage be? 2d8 for the bow and 4d6 for the bomb?
3. A grenadier alchemist using his alchemical weapon to attach a Alchemist fire to an arrow and uses Vital Strike to attack with it...damage would be? Now I'm lost....
4. Finally, the grendaier alchemist uses Explosive Missile AND attaches Alchemist fire to it as well...help!

1 is yes.

2-4, the extra damage is extra damage and is not effected by Vital Strike.

Basically, just assume Vital Strike doesn't work and you will be fine.

1. Yes, but only against the direct target. No effect on splash damage.
2. Only the arrow damage is modified. The bomb becomes extra damage dice when you add them on.
3.Same as above. Vital strike only affects the arrow, not anything you attach with grenadier, explosive missile, or similar effects.

3: This works, but you only multiply the arrow damage. The alchemical item is extra damage.

Good call. After reading Explosive Missile imbicatus is right. They don't work together (even less so than it looks like you'd originally hoped (i.e. not at all)).

How does bomb damage look with Mythic improved vital strike?

You get to multiply your intelligence bonus, point blank shot damage, and weapon specialization if you multiclassed fighter, but it still only affects the direct target damage, not the splash damage.

If using it with the grenadier alchemist, you only multiply the arrow damage. The bomb is still added damage dice.
